Yeah, right. "Offensive."

"She said I should take my flags down. She said this is a school that focuses on diversity and she doesn't want anyone to feel uncomfortable," Stoppel said. "How do you suppose anyone would feel uncomfortable in America with an American flag? That's where I'm confused."

He said he started flying his flags around school last week.

"Now that I finally get to drive to school, I have a truck, that's what I want to do. I want to fly my flags. September 11th is coming up so I wanted to fly them in honor of that," said Stoppel, who said his cousin is serving in the Navy.

Stoppel and his father want an apology from that security supervisor.

"To me, she's just threatening him, hoping that she can just bully him so he'll just take 'em down and just put his tail between his legs and say, 'I'm done. Sorry. Sorry. Sorry.' And that's just not gonna happen," said Dan Stoppel, Jeremy's father.

Teen: Security Told Me To Remove U.S. Flags - Denver News Story - KMGH Denver

You know, these security yahoos forget that the U.S. flag has always stood for diversity, America is known for its melting pot of people from all kinds of ethnic backgrounds.

I am more offended by the tacky display of flag but freedom of speech allows him to be tacky.

I agree, America is all about diversity and freedom and anyone who finds it offensive shouldn't be an American.

It's pretty common for flags being flown on trucks here in the South. See nothing wrong with it. And see a "lot" of Rebel flags and football team flags flying also...I fly a "Jaguar" flag on my back car window.

maybe it's the way he displayed the flag - attitude-wise. We all wave the same flag but it depends on how you wave the flag. I wave mine with the tone of unity while somebody else wave the same flag as mine with "non-diversity" message aka hostile tone.

after all....
There is a policy that bans anything that creates a safety problem or which disrupts the educational environment.

Nothing tacky about flying a US flag off of your car or truck. Just shows that someone really cares for America.

would you say same for "Go-Back-to-Where-You're-From" people, too?

here's how I wave mine -

How do you wave yours? :)

I have a USA flag with the Native American with a peace pipe to let people know that I am Native from United States in Canada, right in front of our house. My husband don't mind and I had one for him but he does not want to put it up yet. Maybe next year. :dunno: Anyway, we have to find the right pole for our flags instead of attach to the porch wall facing the road. So we will see. :hmm:

Having two huge flags (any flags, not just US) mounted on back of your truck IS tacky. It'd make sense if we want to a celebration (like July 4th or parades and all that) but this isn't the case.

This is America. Nothing tacky about it to me. Lots of pride there. Kudos to the kid.

And I need to add that flipping a tire is pretty tacky but good for you. ;)

Nothing tacky about it when its good, fun exercise.

Again, the kid wasn't embarrassed about showing his US flags.

you don't see me arguing about his right to his speech, do you? I am just being superficial, that's all.

Relating to flag, I think the US Flag should be redesigned.. I think it's way too complex... too many stars and if we get more states, we'd have to redesign again... not good.

What should the US Flag be like? Texan flag. It's the BEST design ever. It's simple. It's easy to reproduce. Many state flags are just horrible.

While I agree it's tacky to have two big flags mounted on one's truck; he does have a right and I personally think the security guards over reacted to it.

The U.S. flag is fine in all of its glory and splendor. The bigger the flag...the better like these here.

Some people take things too offensively serious... This is one of them. :S Quite sad.
