i need 100 deaf people and 100 hearing people to answer 20 questions focusing on deaf art and deaf artist. our project was supposed to be a small report on a few local deaf artist in the united states. However i now have to prove the recent influance of deaf artist in mainstream art worlds. And need 100 people on each side of the wall to crunch numbers together to make a presentation. Hopefully, this will prove deaf artist have more respect and recognition in the mainstream artworld. If willing to help all i need is to send an email or i can post all 20 questions here if you are willing to help out. i need to have it in by march 25th. So ifyou can help lemme know.

Whoa, that's asking a lot! If you were here at NTID, you'd have no problem. There's over 1000 deaf students here at NTID!

You better start cracking at it NOW! Post the questions here along with your email.. Don't forget to remond the people submitting to let you know if they are Deaf or hearing. I won't mind filling out that survey!

I can honestly say this, i dont know any, and have never heard of any deaf artists. At the same time i know of very very few artists that are not deaf (not counting people that make music). Rick Kelly is the 1 i can think of so possibly i wouldnt be good for your project.

:barf: :barf:

well like Deaf258 has said and i agree -- post ur questions here on this thread and we can answer them for u :D i dont mind answering ur questions for the survey :thumb:

Let's see....

We've got Doug Tilden, others I can't remember right off my head smack from that Jack Gannon book but it did deal with Deaf artists.......

Its been a long time since I looked up on the subject of Deaf artists....Maybe gnarlydorkette knows : :dunno:

I have strong deaf art connections and I know a few professional deaf artists personally and many more on an impersonal basis. Where're the questions?

PS I am deaf.

Right off the top of my head... deaf artists... hmm... R.F. Walker, Mary Thornley, Chuck Baird, Susan Dupor, Paul Johnston, Betty Miller, Paul Setzer, Alex Wilhite, Guy Wonder, Elizabeth Morris, Ann Silver, Harry Williams, etc.... they all are Americans except Mary Thornley, a Canadian - but she currently resides in USA near gally.

Thxs liza.....I must had a few brain cells left last night prompting my forgetting the title of Deaf Heritage

Besides I was too lazy to play with Google...oh well

:D yes there's more but i have to really think. those are the ones i could think right away living in USA.. after all, the person who started the thread asked for american artists. there are others in ireland, mexico, china, britian, and sweden that i have or I haven't met in person... but i'm sure i didnt meet every deaf artist in the world. in my previous line of "work" and college i've met quite a number of deaf artists. art is my passion.

LOL sable.. :) we all got our lazy days eh?

waterrats, no i dont know much about elizabeth morris.. except that she's from texas and that she's quite against CI in children - she made that poster that said "Not my Choice.. Cochlear Implants" with a picture of child and a road. I dont know about her being married to that sextoon guy, you perv :P hehe just kiddin!

I suggest you to read "Deaf Artists in America" author by Deborah M. Sonnenstrahl, Ph.D. She was an Artist Professor at Gallaude Unverisity. It was damn good book. I have her authograph in her book when I meet her at Deaf Way Conference. I know, her daughter Beth very well. We went to USA Skiier National together.

You may want to contact Dr. Deborah Sonnenstrahl.
