Hey everyone, was just wondering if I could have a little help. I am a hearing male and there is a deaf girl I am interested in asking out. I thought that it'd be cool if I learned in sign how to ask her out for coffee. I am very new to signing, I am just trying to learn my ABC's and a few other words at the moment. Was just curious what exactly should I sign?

Thanks for your time

The first things I guess would be the alphabet, so you could fingerspell anything you don't know the sign for. Basic greetings would be a good start too.

ok.. well I was thinking something like this

you want coffee with me?

i know all of those signs, I was just wondering if the grammar is correct or if I should word it differently

Its good that you are trying to learn in order to talk to her, but in the meantime like someone said learn the alphabet. It's going to be awhile before you learn to communicate a decent conversation using appropriate grammar. I'd try with the basic greeting conversation, explain to her what your situation is, and in the meantime buy some asl literature/take up a class to learn more.

If you only know how to sign a coffee invitation, what are you going to do while having coffee?
