Both of motorcycle and car are not same safety.

You can still get ticket for not wear helmet in my state, that's equal to seat belt for car.

Seat belt ticket is far cheaper and no point assigned, but helmet ticket have court fee included (means greater fine) and 2 points will assigned.

That's apple to orange.

DMV cares about our life.

I had never clicked it for a long time because I hated seat belts. Then one day I finally got ticketed for it. From then on, I click it everyday. Several months later I had really a bad accident and I am still alive due to the seat belt. So I am thankful to a CHP for ticketing me before. You better think hard about it. A seat belt saves your life. It's part of our safety, can you understand that?
 
Actually, our government is more concerned about paying your hospital and long-term care costs if you get hurt in an accident. They also don't want a reputation either.

So, they will do whatever it takes to reduce costs....enforcing seat belt & helmet laws.

I agree with Jiro....if you don't care about your own safety, we don't care either. Just don't make the rest of us taxpayers pay for your medical bills if you choose not to implement safety measures.
 
I would agree with this one, it is a restraint on freedom toward to citizens.

The teenager was inside that car and didn't wear seat belt. He survived.
 
Seat belt don't save lives on every cases where passenger wears seat belts. It depends on scenario really. Like the one on youtube I just posted, that teenager was ejected and flew then hit on grass median and survived. If he wear the seat belt, he is likely not to survive.

simple - why don't you fasten your belt if you value your own life without being told to? where's your common sense?

I can die at any time whenever I ride my motorcycle. It has no seat belt so yea I do think hard about it and I believe I don't need to be told by police or government to fasten the belt.
 
There are many people who will "thumb their noses" at anything that relates to the "Law"....and feel they have a right to do exactly what they want to do and not being told to do so.....I've met several people like this....

Do seat belts really save lives?....I believe they do...then again there have been instances where the seat belt has caused a death....
 
There has been research done few years ago, showing little difference with injury and death related motorcycle accident whether one wears helmet or not. Its just a fraction of a percentile between wearing and not wearing when it comes to motorcycle accident death. This leads to several states dropping the requirement wearing helmet while riding motorcycle.

So, it really depend on what accident scenario is. Some scenario where without helmet or seat belt do save lives, while other scenario it is better off with helmet or seat belt.

There are scenario where air bags actually killed passenger and drivers as well.

Yeah, I was like Jiro, "I don't need the government telling me what to do like wearing a seat belt." Now I obey the law because I am grown up. I guess he is not.

I don't follow. You got ticketed for it. I've never got ticketed for it cuz I always wear seat belt. It's by choice.... not because the government told me to. I wore belt long before the government told me to.

I made a motorcycle-version of Teddy Bear at Build-A-Bear store for my ex and named it Jiro. She still has it. :aw:

The seat belt law kicks in many states when I was born and I was taught by my parent to wear seat belt.

The legislators passed the seat belt law because there are plenty of people have no common sense.
