city refuses to collect pink garbage bucket....

It's an emotional appeal because of the breast cancer charity.

If she wanted to donate to that cause she could have picked a myriad of other ways that didn't break her town ordinances.

I don't know about her town but in our town they will pick up only the cans that the company assigns to us. The trash cans and recycle bins have microchips in them that match up with our address. The truck that picks up the trash cans is totally automated. That is, the driver never gets out of the truck, and the robotic arm picks up the can. For that reason, it must fit exactly into the arm, and not have any stuff hanging out or stacked on top. They don't pick up any bags or loose stuff.

In our city, the garbage company use 2-3 men to pick the garbage cans and clear up the waste to garbage truck.

We've gone all automated. They don't leave any waste behind with the new trucks and cans.

We actually have a company in my town that offers pink trash containers to support breast cancer awareness! My wife thinks that they are ugly though!

How is pink ugly? It's such a pretty color, and it's my favorite color, especially hot pink. I have two breast cancer pink shirts and a breast cancer bracelet. My friend had breast cancer but is now in remission for so far a couple months or more, and she lost her hair. But she is still fierce. She fought it with chemotherapy and radiation for about a year. I am so glad she won the battle, she's had breast cancer in the past. She is about 50.

I agree with your wife , I am am not crazy about the color pink. I hate it that people think every woman loves the color pink. I had to wear it when I was health aide so I am really sick of pink.

Yeah, it is the same way for here too. I think it's a great idea that the woman in the article came up with a pink garbage bin for a worthy cause but my question is, why was she not aware of it? Didn't she even think to do her homework to make sure it was allowed? It probably didn't cross her mind at all.
