Okay thank you. Could you explain to me how mapping quite works. I’ve only been twice so far and all she does is turn the volume up while asking if the beeps are loud or comfortable. But for me it’s hard to say what is loud and what isn’t. I’ve had a profound hearing loss my whole life. I guess my question is, are there tips or tricks during mapping. I’ve been noting what I can hear and things that I have noticed.Sound quality should improve as your brain adjust to the new sounds. Mappings should also help. Be sure to keep a diary of what you like and don't like and how things sound and share that with our audiologist. In my early months with the CI, I would send my audi an email a day or two before my appt so that she'd know how things were going. This also gave her time to contact the CI company before my appt if she had questions about how to "fix" any issues I was having. I'm lucky in that my audi is receptive to me emailing her with concerns (I don't abuse that privilege).
If you use subtitles or listen to audio book and read along your brain or listen to music while reading the words to songs your brain will recognize the words faster. You are still pretty new to it so it may still take some time.. If you love music also listen to your favorite song until you can notice one word then you will get 2 and so on. It's just a matter of knowing how to practice with it.
