Actually I reckon that my brain has a false concept of what is too loud and what isn't. I was without sound in the implanted ear for 8 months before the CI, due to having recruitment, so I reckon that maybe I will hear cars more when I increase the comfort levels for each electrode over time. After the second mapping a friend of mine commented that I was no longer shouting when I spoke, whereas I remember you saying you whispered right after activation! I can certainly hear my car when driving it though. I reckon cars will come in time though as I am hearing new sounds all the time still.
