CI for males

Whatever... Btw, I was slightly offbase. It won't kill you to get hit with a football or tackled, but if you got hit in the head, your internal peice on the CI could be damaged.

Oh, and my statement "being beyond me", simply meant ...I just don't understand why you would want to sacrifice your ability to hear that way. Most people in your situation would appreciate their ability to do so, and wouldn't want to risk it.

Alright, that what I got it.

I created new thread for several CIers that who had experience with football.

The head would probably bomb up.

 I thought the same thing, so I asked someone what might happen.

Apparently, the only thing that would happen is the pressure from the sea level would damage the CI.

While I'm not exactly sure what will happen, I can hazard two things.

1) The implant itself would impress itself too hard on the skull and cause problems that way.

2) There is a "cutout" right behind the ear where they move it out of the way. The pressure of the water beyond 82ft probably will penetrate that gap and force its way in.

I'm interesting about going to ice diving.

I don't know about risk for CI when want go to ice diving.

OH man...

this is a nut thread...

I think his doctor meant to say not to play football with speech processor.

One can do any sports even extreme one. provided that external device are removed or secured for safety.

No, that's incorrect.

Th doctor said that I cannot play football because I had CI in my head (internal), not including speech processor, then that BS and I just ignored them and enjoy to doing on my own risk.

that's what you "recalled" 6 years ago?

If that's true

well time has changed.. 6 years ago may be true but today, helmets are more safer than 6 years ago hmm..

Would you go motorcycling without helmet but with CI on in a state that don't require helmet? and you happened to skid..... then bam.. just like what happened to you when you were on skateboard. no helmet tsk.

I think so, I just started play football in 2002 until 2004.

For riding on motorcycle, I will rather to wear full helmet.
Just look like that.... YES :)

I would say a racing helmet for everyday riding is overkill eh.

you should have worn that helmet (2nd photo) when skateboarding eh. even kneedpad and elbow pad regardless if you think it is not cool and everyone don't use it. that's SOL!

What's SOL? I haven't hear about it.

I go motorcycling with a helmet, I'm female not male and if you're interested all my dr/surgeon asked when his nurse mentioned it was do you wear a helmet. When I said yeah, he patted my shoudler and said good....end of discussion.

The point is you are only limited in activities by yourself...except of the scuba thing. I perfer to use a helmet in my activity, many don't. My guess is alot of kids with CI's in deaf schools play football and stuff to.

I remember someone told me when I was in Russia, and they said that football is a seriously nut. They wouldn't want that kind of game for their country. It is a common sense that CI can damaged if you play in a rough sport. I was told that CI cannot be replaced or repaired because of the wires in the fragile cochlea. It is done damage once for a rest of your life if you have that problem. I think that it is safe to play a light sport so that you could enjoy what you want.

OY how many ID's does this kid have? I think the mods should at least limit him to one.

As to his silly thread here - I think its redundant because his CI doesn't work anyway, remember? - he's just trying to stir the pot, as usual.

Really, I don't know about fragile in cochlea.

Helmet is good enough for people with CI to play rough sports, such as football.
