Christmas presents

TCS makes his own jerky to give as gifts. Boy, does our house stink when he does that!

On Christmas day the family comes over to house for lunch. It's usually casual, which I learned from my mom. At my mom's house we had family members drop in at all times during the day, so we kept ready a pot of Grandma's baked beans, and deli supplies--breads and rolls, meats, cheeses, condiments--so guests could help themselves. My daughter now brings her from-scratch-made macaroni and cheese.

I've gotten some of my shopping done on Amazon. Still got more to do.

Haven't gotten much decorating done. We have the mailbox decorated and the outdoor creche set up, with a spot light.

Haven't yet started cards.

We still have TCS's birthday to celebrate on Thursday.

I make my own as well, doesn't stink at all? But everybody wants it too lolIMG_2805.JPG IMG_2803.JPG IMG_2802.JPG

Yes, he has a dehydrator.
Ive used a Dehydrator, Gas and electric ovens and a smoker.
The smoker is the best but takes a lot of work to keep temps in check and keep the fire rolling ( don't want too hot, but not too cool either )
Gas or electric ovens work great, just have to use liquid smoke to add the flavor as well as seasonings that you wont get without a smoker, takes just 6 hours to finish.
A dehydrator, if using a good one with fan works great, takes a little longer than the stove ( 12 hrs +/- )
Its fun to do and try different seasonings, I usually make my own seasonings.

LOL... oh that would be awesome as a gift. One of my friends out in WA loves jerky. I gave him some a year or two ago (don't remember when) but nothing super special as I had to watch how much I spent lol)

I used to love to eat jerky when I was little kid but not anymore because of stupid heartburn (GERD).

Talk to your doctor about Heartburns, It could be treatable. Acid reflux, Indigestion, Ulcers could also cause these symptoms. Consult your doctor before eating anything more than bland tasteless foods as they can prevent you from enjoying foods to the fullest. LOL
No really, talk to your doc, I had issues too ( used to have the ole cast iron stomach ) Doc put me on Pepcid and Tagamet and it helped for awhile, turned out my gallbladder was shot. After it was removed I was pretty much back to normal. An ultrasound will tell if its the issue, mine was full of sludge and stones.

I already did... I have GERD for 18 years now and there is no cure for GERD, beside medicine and diet modification.

Neither Pepcid and Tagamet worked for me and they have bad side effect (abdominal cramping and diarrhea), also Zantac did nothing to me. I'm only on Dexilant that is only work great with some diet modification, also less side effect.

I already explained in other thread - http://www.alldeaf.com/threads/popular-heartburn-medications-linked-to-higher-risk-of-stroke.128446/

18 years I am sure you have helluva experience, but just to be sure- have you ever been checked for H Pylori?

Yes, negative after 4 EGD biopsies.

It can be under control with medication or diet modification, or combined.

I am sorry you must suffer with GERD. my daughter has it, too.
I wonder if it is no related to other bacterias, though. I developed GERD after prolonged courses of sinus antibiotics.
This particular a/b may cause stomach upset, diarrhea etc and if that happens this should be treated with anohter a/b.
I probably should have been but I was too tired and said no. Now I have GERD ever since too, but not bad.

My GI specialist ruled all out, but I do have 1 cm hernia (large hernia can be treated with surgery).

My LES (lower esophageal sphincter) has been weakened since first diagnosis in 1998 so my doctor believed it was hereditary, also my father started to have heartburn when he was late childhood in 60s (antacid or baking soda was only one to treat at that time). I used to had chronic heartburn when I was baby from 1987 to 1990, so Zantac worked like magic, but not anymore.

If you have strong esophagus muscle so you can have fundo or LINX, but not option for me.

I see. I take Tecta twice daily and it seem to do the trick.
Well, may Santa bring you the cure for GERD! I really wish you this :)
