Well....my gf and I are planning to stop by in Chicago on August on the way to Ohio. I am confused about which station to take on way to downtown Chicago...prefer a large park and ride station very close to I-90 freeway. I don't want a long trip back and forth as well. Some of the stations have limited parking, so I'm not sure.

 am sorry have no suggestions for you but wanted to wish you good luck on your travels! Wish I could help...
maybe there is a website detailing information for there?

Where in Ohio are you going?

Also, I'm not certain I understand - are you looking for cross-state transit (ie a train from Chi-town to Ohio) or inter-city transit (ie from one part of Chicago to another)?

For the latter, you can use Google Maps - "Transit" is an option and it'll map out bus lines, the El and the trains, with stop times and trip length.

CTA have a South Shore Line goes to Gary, Michigan City and South Bend Airport in Ind state Or you prefer drive to P/R lot near chicago area. it's on I-90 station at Hwy 12 then take the 892 goes downtown chicago.

CTA map looks look cutted off on the side of map as state line, you can surf up at Chicago Transit Authority

My girlfriend took a train and visited me from Michigan. She took train to 225 S. Canal. That is where Union train station in Chicago is located. I would possibly be of help if you plan to be in Chicago. I'm right by Chicago.
