I know that this is a great phone company. I wouldn't mind having one of those phones. However, when I talked to US Cellular rep, they told me that there is no portable battery charger for their phones. I would want a phone that has a portable battery charger. I know that Verizon has them and so does I phone 4.

Also, I didn't hear anything about them having deaf friendly services. If there is one, can you fill me in on that. Thanks.

I thought US Cellular was nearly gone. They are a very small network that often uses AT&T's towers from what I have heard from others. StraightTalk by Walmart uses Verizon towers I believe.

US Cellular is very popular in IL. No, US Cellular don't use AT&T tower due US cellular's network tech is CDMA and AT&T network tech is GSM.

Then I was told wrong. I did not know they were CDMA and not GSM.

Their low-end phones (Axle) don't have the volume I need. My new phone (Bliss) is probably mid-range. Does have more flexibility in volume. Also has internet access. I really don't use internet (on phone :giggle:) much, told them that. Told them that I am happy with setting for loud because of hearing loss. She immediately switched me to a less expensive plan.

By all means, get plan for unlimited texting. Very expensive per text.

Yeah, there are many, many US Cellular stores in IL. I personally know someone who moved from IL to CA last winter. Their US Cellular phone didn't work as well in CA as it did in IL. I know people who have US Cellular in WI and Indiana. The phone works out very well in both states.

I have unlimited texts on my T mobile MyTouch 3G slide. I would want the same when I switch to Verizon or US Cellular late this summer.

GSM is problematic with hearing aids due to the frequency, and I would recommend MetroPCS and or Virgin Mobile, very cheap and I assume you mainly want the texting and web features, :)

I use Virgin Mobile. They have unlimited text, data and such plus 300 (unused for me) voice minutes for only 25.00 a month. Go to www.virginmobile.usa for more info. They have a pretty good deal. The phones are sold online, at WalMart and Bestbuy. If I ever have trouble (only once) I took my phone to Best Buy. They were great. It was just a user error. (I messed up a setting)
Good luck and hope you find a nice deal.

US Cellular has great coverage here.My Dad has a plan and I might join his family plan. I am struggling with Verizon Motorola Droice (original) and video chatting. Has anyone used Samsung Mesmerize or any other US Cellular phone with ZVRS or any other video chatting program?

Good question to ask. I recently found out that one of my deaf friends got US Cellular and he is happy with it. I can ask him some questions. He lives close to Northern Illinois University. I cannot remember which phone, but I can ask if that helps.
