Charges against girl, 18, in same-sex underage relationship

Well, that is the risk she is taking.. I wish her luck in trial. The plea deal is probably the best option if she knows what she did is wrong. If jury finds her guilty, she'd be registered SO and go to prison longer. My guess is that she seeks the girl's side and the truth and lawyers might try to place blame on the girl. That's how defense lawyers is, so we'll see how this goes.

Yes, it is very risky and it is up to Katelyn to make choice.

I have no prediction about whichever is guilty or not - it will be very interesting. I don't donate my money to her lawyer because I personally don't believe in donation to support criminals that may seen as innocent.

...my feelings are you continue to side-track the issue!....And since you are in fact Gay...you will more than likely never have children unless you adopt....or being a "birth parent"....The Parents I have interacted with and have taken classes with....would never, ever...want their 14 year old to be having Sex...no matter if it's straight or Gay/Lesbian!....Too young.

And if my 18 year old son was having sex with a 14 year old....oh my!....But my boys have been taught it's wrong..."jail bait"....And if that was the case...and the girls' parents took it to court....then he would have to pay the price....and whenever my 18 year old says "I've met this girl that is pretty cool"....I always say..."That's nice...how old is she?"....and when I meet her....I ask to let me see ur ID/drivers license, please.....

Am I being "overly protective" of my son?....Maybe so...but then again, I would not want him to go to jail...and after all my "teachings" to my 16 year old son...he stated to me one day that he would never, ever have Sex until he was 18....and YES...I have given all my boys Condoms at ages 15.

It happened to a friend of ours...her 18 year old son was having sex with a 15 year old girl....and the parents took it to Court....he was in jail for over a year...is a registered Sex Offender...and the charges were dropped to "child abuse" which he pleaded guilty for...His Parents were devastated...the only job he has found is in a restaurant and his Father helped him find it....

This is a good post.

Yeah, I believe Kate thinks public sympathy will help her in court. The judge will however instruct the jury to ignore their emotions and follow the law. She has no case, she has admitted her actions.

What happen if Katelyn is acquit on all charge?

For me, I will happy for her and hopefully she will not break more laws in the future.

not gonna happen. she will be criminally charged. period. there's absolutely no getting out of this. none whatsoever.

for me - I hope every teen in Florida now know about the law and should choose to date somebody else in their age range. until a law is changed... don't date a minor when you're 18. simple as that. or don't have a sex.

Not really, she hasn't on trial yet and there are no jury verdict yet.

You never know - see Casey Anthony's case.

I'm not interested. this is not a murder case. learn how to argue rather than just saying it.

You never know about Katelyn's result until after trial and jury verdict completed.

I'm simply ask hypocritical question, that it.

We need to focus on what has been broke law. Not let same-sex take advantage to bend the law. We had to make sure they're on same page with straight people.

There are no evidence issues in this case. She admits the actions and admitted she knew it was illegal.

Yeah, that is possible.

Here is the transcript and what the DA offered Katie:

Plea Deal Offer

Not really, she hasn't on trial yet and there are no jury verdict yet.

You never know - see Casey Anthony's case.

This Plea Deal link pretty much covers everything and admittance. She's still a criminal to most people's eyes. Her reputation is already beyond damaged, this will be wake up call especially 18+ yo teens straight or not.

By the way, this is not about Casey Anthony, this thread is about Katie whole different scenario. The point is she took a RISK to go on trial and being found guilty. She should have taken DA's plea deal offer to save the pain and damage. Either she on her own or her lawyers convinced her not to take it.

I don't think anyone wins in this situation.

You just talk, talk - but you never know about overcome from court.

No. Anyone that has paid attention to my posts over the years knows that I have always said you can't predict what a jury will say.

What we do know for certain is that she IS guilty. She admitted committing t he crime. We don't know how the jury will rule, but if they ignore the facts and side with emotion it will be a travesty of justice. It will be a loss for America and our constitution. Our courts are supposed to base decisions on facts.....not the grumblings of the miffed.
