Certified Deaf Interpreter (CDI)

I once interpreter for an US person in class at Gallaudet. it was really hard work since one got to watch what the prof was signing, not like a terp hearing and then interpret.

Actually, hearing interpreters have a very difficult job too. Low vision interpreting means you are mirroring everything that is signed, but you are still doing it in ASL. The bilingual work of a hearing interpreter is much more difficult because we have to actually translate everything. It is convenient that hearing interpreters can hear their input, but the job is more complicated than mirroring for a low vision person.

I'm not saying all CDI work is easier, because CDI's are often responsible for translating home signs into ASL, for example. But mirroring requires less mental effort than other CDI roles.
