Cats VS Dogs

Do you prefer to have cats or dogs or both and other?

I like both, but I prefer dogs. Dogs are easier to take care while cats are hard to take care. Cats tend to disappear for days, even weeks. My grandmother used to have a lot of cats, they would come to me not other people such as my cousins. When I would visit my grandmother, the cats would always run to me even they hadn't seen me in months.

first time I've ever heard dogs are easier than cats. :dunno2: I guess you're bad with cats haha or maybe cuz of your grandma having tons of cats - CAT LADY! Reminds me of this old granny in Simpsons where she throws cats at intruder.

I'm a dog lover - I have a yorkie named Cookie. Dog has #1 advantage over cat - letting me know people's at door. I want a bigger dog but my mom is terrified of it so I'll just get my own when I move out... perhaps a german shepherd or a wolfie-looking one

How can dogs be boring? At least dogs can play around and fetch unlike cats who just lies down and do nothing

I agree with you. GO DOGS! I love to play with my dog fetch back and fourth. It keep my dog energy. Cat can be lazy. LoL My dog can be lazy sometime. She have been work out for walking and playing a lot. She can be rest and lazy. Dogs RULES!!! Cats DROOL! LoL

I love both cats and dogs, have two cats and three dogs. Keep me busy all the time but they are fun and great to be around.

I always dread this kind of threads.

pinky... I know you inquired (and others posted) without any intentions but my poor cats are offended and I'll speak for them. ;) especially because we do not take anyone's thoughts as 'opinions' if you never had a cat or enough experience/knowledge. experience does make a big difference for better understanding/perspectives.

for instance..

, I like dogs. They always want to do what you want but cats want you to do whatever they want. Cats are very self centered.
eight of mine aren't. at all. it really depends on how you look at them, think of them, treat them and portion of love you give them. they feel you, ESP you (read your heart, not just your mind). maybe try to love them differently now?

, I like the dogs more than cats. Because dog can tell me when she can hear the doorbell. She will bark. She always wake me up.
my cat can too, she comes to me and goes back to the sounds. and, she paws my nose/lips if my eyes are closed. a fact here, I'm looking to get her a service cat certificate - before my dog retires.

Some of breed that I don't like to have a shedding on my clothes and everywhere. I prefer to have a non-shedding dogs. I can get dog go travel on the road, go to lake, camping and etc. The most of cats do have shedding which I don't like it.
hmm, all do shed... just more or less. not to mention, more than cats do. another fact here, I have one dog and more than a dozen of cats living at my house, can you guess which more furs I find? don't complain, groom them weekly.

and all of my cats are known as the excellent furtravellers as well. just ask for a picture if you'd like. :)
I came in the house. I can smell like cat's urine and poop in the litters. It's not care and clean very well. I can't stand to smell the litters with urine and poops.
not at my house. but you're right, pet owners who don't keep their house clean is the key problem. very standard. sad for responsible pet lovers like us (notice owners and lovers?) come here and if I hide all of my animals in a room for few minutes, you'll never know I had a cat. in all senses.
Cats always being snob and scare of guest people to come in. Some cat do like to near on guest people. It depend on cat's breed.
not always - only one out of my dozen cats are afraid of guests. that is because she is deaf and her abusive herstory, not just the breed.
I don't like the cat jump into the table, counter, cabinet, refrigerator. Cat do have a sharp claw to scratch on everyone's skins, ruin the couch's material, curtain, door screen and etc...
again, no one should complain - trim their claws, BUY stratching posts, find solutions (may vary for individuals) to prevent jumps/tears and train them humanely. *end of my soapbox, goes to refrigator for a wine*

as for topic's question - I don't play any role of favoritism or live by preferences for any creatures - I love all creatures; A to Z...well, to G actually and I to Z, thailand's hog-nosed bat (smallest, smaller than many insects and snails) to blue whales (the largest mammal in the world) and even all S's (spiders, slugs, snails, snakes and snunks). I believe every species were born on this earth for this, a very reason. ;)

Have 7 cats now. 3 cats are mine....3 cats are DreamDeaf's... we have a cat on broad.

That's true. I realized about cat is smart. I went to my friend's house all the times. They have 2 cats. I like her cat name is Pita. She is so kindly and like to be near to me. She is a social. I was surprise! Her fur color is black and blue mixed. I am not sure what kind of breed that I like her. I was raise with dogs. I never have an own cat because my parents hate cats.

About Freckles asking about my cat. I do have only one now but I have had several before because my daughters both liked cats. The cat I have now is an old man of 12, and he thinks he is in charge. He loves both the little dogs, my granddaughter, the neighbor's little female cat, and me especially. For a cat he is wonderful. And he gets plenty of love and attention, even though I think of myself as a dog person.:hmm: Hope Freckles feels better at this sign of my cat respect.

glad to hear that pinky... now you know not all cats are your enemy.

thank you botts for clarification, only was giving some examples.

My other new friend's cat's fur alike a leopard. She is 20 years old and still alive. I am surprise!

Thank goodness for that! We got to control the rodent population. Exception would be when it brings the mouse to you...then it is not so good. *making a sick face*

OH Lord yes. My kitty had brought mouse to door in garage twice. When my ex wife opened door she screems, it was gross, but funny. :giggle:

yea my former neighbor's cat always leave the dead rat on my driveway.... :pissed:

I didn't have any cats growing up, because like others, my dad would not like them. I did get to love dogs though growing up. After getting married my wife wanted a cat so we got a cat. We only had apt at first so a cat would be a little easier to care of. Im telling you though- my first cat was possesed byy the devil! She would be perfect nice and you pet her and hold her and without notice, she bite and claw OUCH! She had kittens though and we kept one (his name Pepper). He turned to be sweetest thing in world and really got me love kitties. We got another cat (Otis) who like pepper was such a good cat and loving EVERYBODY. We then got puppy and all 3 would play and chase around house :D

I vote both cat and dog. I miss my cats since divorce (my ex took the cats!) I took Isabelle my doggy. She really comfort me a lot. She was a small Schnauzer/ Maltease mix (black) She got lost though last fall, and broke my heart. I was devestated because I felt so alone. I still miss her and need to get another pet one day. They are very therapeutic whether cat or dog.

About hunting cats. My cat brings rabbits at this time of year. It is disgusting.
