Cat returns home after 10 years

A cat has been reunited with its owner 10 years after going missing.
Lynx disappeared from her home in Hook, Hampshire, in 1997, and her owner, Patricia Charnet, thought she would never see her pet again.

Earlier this week a stray was found in Carterton, Oxfordshire, and handed in to the Blue Cross centre in Burford.

A scan showed that the 12-year-old tabby was microchipped and the centre tracked down her owner, who lived 60 miles away.

Ms Charnet said that when the animal sanctuary phoned her, she thought they had made a mistake.

Lynx turned up 60 miles away 10 years after disappearing

"You still have it in the back of your mind," she said.

"And it happened this time, for real. That was unbelievable, it is a wonderful feeling.

"If only she could talk she would have a story to tell."

Mandy Jones, from the Blue Cross said staff at the centre were amazed to discover that Lynx had been missing for 10 years.

"I still can't believe we were able to reunite her with her owner after such a long time - it goes to show how important microchipping is," said Ms Jones.

:eek3: wow what a mircale!!!!!!!!!!!

WOW!!! I plan to get microchips on my two dogs. Just in case if their collars got lost or broken etc. MIRACLES that Lynx went back home with his owner!!

I suspect someone else had the cat for a while. Living 10 years in the wild doesn't lend oneself to a) survival, and b) having housecat habits. So, if the cat still has a domestic temperment, that means someone else had the cat, and now another owner is looking for their cat, assuming the worst.

Happy ending news!

All puppies that is going to be sold, they MUST put them microchipped FIRST before giving away to their first home.

amazing that the cat have been gone for 10 yrs... im happy for the owner to get the cat back.... but 10 yrs... dang.... surprised me that whoever had the cat didnt bother to take the cat to vet and have the cat scanned to see if have microchip or not?? sheesh... unless the person never took the cat to vet for check up??? who knows.... but important that the cat is HOME! :)

I think it's amazing. My pet shelter microships every pet. Don't forget that if your pet is microshiped to make sure you go online and update your information at least yearly or so.

Wow that is amazing!!! One of my cat and dog have a mircochip and I gotta update the information since I will be moving to a new home. I will get my other 2 cats for a mircochip.

Yes I was like wow after read those news in the google and thought to myself to share those amazing news with you all here.

I have all cats except 21 years old Sussi microchipped for gratis after have them tied to prevent for have more kitten accord Animal Right law. It's obligation but it cost the owners nothing.

Wow...guess chasing that little mouse went farther and longer than expected! :laugh2:

Interesting and nice ending--yet, it's possible now that the 'other' owner(s) are wondering what became of their pet....

wow I think it not possible to have same cat for 10 years. wow.

I found a lost dog that he stopped by my house and stayed at my yard. My stepdaugther and I went to look for him. He was so dirty. We called the animal shelter about this dog. They refuse come pick him up. I was surprised. I found this dog's collar with tag. Tag had the address and phone number. My stepdaugther and I were shocked that this dog was from Castle Rock. We live in Denver. It take one hour to drive to Castle rock from Denver. whoa. I cannot believe that. My stepdaugter had to call the owner but they moved somewhere and their phone were changed. We found two men who wanted take this dog and care of him. They told me that they gave him a bath and he become pure white and he was so cute. but bad news that he ran away and they cannot find him. Sigh I dont know how long that this dog been lost. I belive that maybe 2 to 3 years. wow

Wow, long time away from home. Glad the owner got the cat back! I'm sure other owner took care of the cat and ran away from home and got found and scanned out that it belonged to some the owner who lost the cat (orginal owner)
