AP - Jim Carrey will star in a film based on the '70s TV series The Six Million Dollar Man, to be written and directed by Todd Phillips, Dimension Films announced.

"The teaming of Jim and Todd is a perfect creative combination to launch the 'Six Million Dollar Man' franchise, Dimension Films co-chairman Bob Weinstein said in a statement Tuesday. "Todd is a director with proven instincts and Jim is a superstar."

According to the studio, "the combination of Carrey and Phillips led to a fresh, hilarious take on the potential franchise."

Lee Majors starred as Col. Steve Austin in the action-adventure series, which ran from 1974-78.

Phillips directed Old School and Road Trip, and is now working on the movie version of Starsky & Hutch.

Carrey's films include Bruce Almighty, The Truman Show and Man on the Moon.

 I can hardly wait to see how Jim Carrey pulls this one off. I was just watching his old Ace Ventura movies the otehr day, heheheh! Just can't get enough of the man, He's damn bloody hysterical! ;)

Ha ha ha! I have seen his ol' shows with Wayans brothers in Living color.

He can mimick about every characters. So I'll love to see more of him!

Ugh! Jim Carrey as Steve Austin in the Six Millions Dollar Man movie?!

That is a terrible choice! They should choose an actor with good acting skills, not funny man!

The worst part is it is going to be SPOOF, opposite to the theme of the old popular TV series!

Therefore, I will NOT watch that movie. It is really disgusting me.

Yup, I agree with you KingCobra.... I would like to see non-funny guy to play for Col Austin, not funny man. I cant see myself in Jim Carrey IRL and wonder why that director would chose him?

That's alright! Everyone's entitled to their opinions!! That's why I said I'd LOVE to see Jim Carrey PULL it OFF. Meaning...see if he can perform in THAT type of movie..

It would be funny to see him doing his famous slow-motion running move while going na-na-na-na-na-na-na... (robotic sounds)

Remember Bruce Willis?

Everyone was baffled when they heard that Bruce is starring in an action flick which is one of the most popular movies around, you know it as Die Hard.

He was originally just a comedy actor.

Yep, anything can happen to any star. I remember Bruce Willis when he was on the television show, Moonlighting. That was a great show.

I also remember the television show when they created a separate series... Bionic Woman! Hmm... now that I think about it, I can imagine during the movie when he loses his girlfriend. However, at the very end... she's at home waiting for him! OMG! It's Bionic Woman! Wooot! Hmm... who'll play her? That cute gal from the Scary Movie series?
