Why is it that tv's on airplanes do not have captions...I mean the deaf people would like to enjoy tv as well...-_-
 
Delta had captioning for the safety instructions. Didn't watch the TV/movie so don't know if it was available for that.
 
I checked on B.A website for my flight on thursday, there is film on that i haven't seen and checked for subtitles.... nope.... just arabic!!! I hope to get in touch with them soon... I cannot fly 4 hours without any entrainment...
 
I've been on delta, united, air canada, jet blue, west jet and prob a few others and none have had captions...
 
Continental is first airline to offer passengers closed-caption TV

Closed caption TV becomes available on Continental flights
By David Kirkwood On January 7, 2012 · Leave a Comment ....HOUSTON–Continental Airlines has become the first airline to provide passengers with closed captioning for live television broadcasting on some of its aircraft.

The closed captioning will help passengers with hearing loss enjoy in-flight entertainment, including over 100 channels of DIRECTV-provided satellite television. This enhancement will be offered initially on all LTV3-equipped Boeing 737NG planes operated by Continental.

The closed captioning is provided to the airline by LiveTV, the world’s largest provider of live in-flight entertainment and connectivity systems for commercial airlines.

Founded in 1998 in Melbourne, FL, LiveTV has installation and maintenance locations around the world to support the more than 700 aircraft equipped with its products. Current customers also include JetBlue, Frontier, AirTran, Alitalia, Virgin Blue, WestJet, and Azul.

Pah, been on 4 hour flight today watching film rental from iTunes with captions as the flight movie did not contain captions even though I emailed them before my departure! This is top flight company.... British airways! My friends works for them, will ask them.
