PS4 is 2013 model because it made in 2013, so 2014 will be after Jan 1, 2014.

You could contact Sony and question about add software CC decoder to OS.

Apple TV has software CC decoder, even MacBook Pro too.

Ah region-free. My father selling them to foreign customers. We are foreign. :)

Let me ask my father if he know any region-free dvd player/blu-ray player with built-in CC decoder. I forget about that.

He at least explained how to get the DVD and VCR working. Now I'm watching a DVD which has subtitles (none in English) and says it's captioned too. I'm playing it and it's not captioning. What am I missing? My DVDs won't be captioned on an HDTV anymore? How do I get this to work? Thank you.

I have same problem, I think it is false advertising, and that we all need to complain to the FCC

SOME OLDER DVD PLAYERS HAVE BOTH A/V AND HDMI OUTPUTS. THE CC SIGNAL IS IN THE AV (RCA RED, WHITE, AND YELLOW)
THE CC SIGNAL IS ACTUALLY IN THE YELLOW VIDEO CORD. (AM I KEEPING THIS SIMPLE ENOUGH?? LOL)
AMAZON FOR ABOUT FIFTEEN DOLLARS WILL SELL YOU AN ADAPTER THAT TAKES AN A/V (RCA RED, WHITE, YELLOW) CABLE IN
