Can someone help with a translation please?

Ah chemist i dont know why i didnt get that, I did the same thing I did it full screen and could understand the signs but very little of the fingerpselling, and when he moved his hands over that white part of the shirt i just couldnt read any of it.

Yeah, The fingerspelling is what I had a hard time trying to figure out because of the quality of the video that happened to be blurry when it was on the full screen (also on the small screen too) and also the white part of the shirt was hard to be seen as well like you mentioned.

ah well, odd video. Ive seen some terrible signing but that can go down in the book as some of the worst video signing i have seen.

I was able to enchance it to a full frame in order to see the sign but however, when I enchanced the video the picture became a little bit blurry... I was able to understand the sign but not the fingerspelling. The fingerspelling is VERY sloppy and hard to read. I am a native signer but this is a video gone bad.

Here's what I got so far from recepting the video, It's the best I could do to translate it -

friend of rachel, me Mel Apollo undy can't fool mate lerk have chemist running test on dfsdd cemend always important but sytearar can't hate that competition large argument, something like that.

That's the best I could get from seeing the video. I hope that will be somewhat a bit of a help to you. Good Luck. Would anyone else be happy to make an input to this as well?
That is a big help!

Here is a partial translation someone posted on another forum... maybe this will help?
Friend of Rachel. Welcome [fingerspelling} apollo candy. First, to beat Mittleverk, we need to answer some questions on [fingerspelling

Hanso found something important but Mittleverk didn't like it. There was a big struggle. Hanso disappeared with (something...scientists maybe?). He found a new place and gave "everything" in order to save people.

The name "Mittelwerk" is a bad guy in this story. Rachel is the hero. Apollo Candy is a website set up by the bad guy's company, the Hanso Foundation.

That is also a big help for me to understand and I re-watched the video again. I was able to pick up a little bit more information from there. Here's what I picked up on again from that -

friend of rachel me mel apollo candy first fool mittlewerk have chemist running test on dfsd centered (spelling across the whitepart on the shirt, which is what I couldn't get) Important but systerar can't hate competition large argument (Again, fingerspelling across the white part on the shirt) with spora (fingerspelling spora - I was trying to make sense out of it).

That's the best I could get from the video.

Thanks Jolie 77! My friends on thefuselage.com (where I post as QuinceTheCarpenter), think that "Mel" is an important clue. I totally forgot there was a character named Mel0Drama that posted some clues awhile back in "The Experience."

I wonder why you have "systerar" but the other translation gives "Mittelwerk" again. His full name is Thomas Werner Mittelwerk.

"spora" is interesting too - it might relate to some white flowers that showed up that had something to do with life extension/healing.

Well, anyway, thanks for the help!

No problem, I'm just glad I could help out even if the vid was bad, lol. I have no idea how the "systerar" came in. When I was watching the vid, I just had to type at the same time in order not to forget what the person was saying on the vid. Perhaps the "spora" is another clue, Who knows?

I understand some of the signing and the spelling was sloppy. I can't even understand his spelling. This has to be the worst signing video ever! I almost have no idea what he was saying. I hate when they don't show his head and it looks like someone got his head cut off.

Thats what I said, its horrible. Ive seen some really bad sign videos done by asl students and what not but this one takes the cake, its awful.

I agree, It is a video gone bad. I also hate that part too when they don't show the head as well because of course as you know, ASL requires the facial expression as well.

We would really appreciate a detailed translation for this video:

YouTube - The Chocolate Factory

We think there is a clue in the sign language that could be important. I'd really, really appreciate it! Thanks so much!

EDIT: Oops, I see there is a sign language interpretation subforum also... mods please move.

PS: This is not a joke or spam of any kind, trying to sell something.

I want to thank you sign lang interpreters so much on behalf of people who are playing this game. :) I actually signed up with the same strategy as QtheC, also trying to get help from you guys... was surprised someone beat me to it.

I realize this is probably a horrible video to work with, but please, please try your best. You would be helping thousands of people... granted, it's not life or death, but we are pretty insane fans following this internet thing. :)

ANd yes, word for word, letter for letter translation as much as possible. As Q mentioned, we think there is a letter/number code hidden in this video... it would look like gibberish, like IQXZ1NT32, to give an example. I have also emailed my friend who understands signing and also plays this game.

Sorry to disturb the peace of your forum!

hate fingerspelling too fast.. I cannot catch it.. sorry

Several of us have tried I even had my girlfriend look at it and she can read fingerspelling at a much faster rate than I can, it has already been interpreted as much as it can be the fingerspelling is so sloppy and once the signers hands move over to the white part of the t-shirt i lose any ability to interpret anything that is being said.

It almost looks like it isn't ASL but maybe a different country's sign language. I know it can't be BSL because of the one-handed fingerspelling, but I absolutely couldn't understand it.

I was just saying last night that I really hope whatever important bits of information come out of this Lost game are repeated on the show, because I really don't want to have to work this hard to get vital plot points! I just want to watch the show. :run:

"The Experience" is supposed to end before LOST Season 3 begins in the U.S. (I think), and I am sure there will be summaries written for those who just want the main points without playing the game and bothering with all the details.

If you want to read some summaries of the Experience so far, there is a pretty good reference thread here Is it too late to start the experience? - The Fuselage (see post #2 by QuinceTheCarpenter - that's me). It lists 'how to catch up' references.

The biggest source of plot related information is the Hanso video we are slowly piecing together - right now we have about 42 of 70 video fragments. That will be quite interesting when it is complete, probably in 2-5 weeks.

Thanks again to those that helped with the translation of that very difficult to view signing in the Chocolate video. There is a thread discussing it here 08/17/06 - subLYMONal chocolate clue -- phone hint and ASL vid - Source: sublymonal - The Fuselage , if anyone is interested.
