Dixie, I understand that, honestly I do! I also (as a teacher) understand wanting to tell these people to invest a little more time in learning or researching through a variety or resources outside the internet. But, in my opinion, not responding gives a clearer and better message than negative or berating/sarcastic responses. Then again, what do I know - I'm a hearie, a Canuck, am left-handed AND like my vegetables so I am not exactly the norm.
If no one tells them, then who will? If the OP really wants to do better and is genuinely interested in interpreting, then she would come back, apologize and take this as a learning experience in interacting with d/hh people.
I really want the best for her as a student. However, I don't think it's right that we should allow ourselves to be some sort of lab rat either.
