The California Supreme Court on Thursday ordered an immediate halt to gay marriages in San Francisco, delivering a victory to conservatives who have fought for a month to block the ceremonies.


The court did not rule on the legality of such marriages, and justices said they would hear such a case in May or June.


The dispute began Feb. 12, when Mayor Gavin Newsom ordered his administration to issue same-sex marriage licenses. A steady stream of gay and lesbians from around the country have traveled to be married at City Hall, just a block from the Supreme Court.

that woman thats in that pic on the right , i know her and i had a feeling there would be an issuance of stopage the only thing they need to know right now is this, WE STILL HAVE RIGHTS they have no call in doing this they apparently forgot the consitution of California rights And the issuance of the US consitution thier fucking with the wrong hands! reglions and Laws are separate leave it at that and let us have our lives don't be trying to deny our rights stupid fucker the terminator will lose his job in no time flat!

well it wasnt anything the terminator did, it was all the supreme court of california. Sure he was all against it, but that didnt likely have any sway over what the court ruled. I dont even see what the big fucking deal is.
 
I know—I just hammered that out off the top of my head in a state of disgust and ran off to work. I know that it wasn’t a very well thought out statement. The issue here is that denying marriage benefits to same-sex couples has no rational basis. We are denying them the right to financial contract on the basis of our own self-hatred and the hatred of our own sexuality. Alexander Sutherland Neill once said that "sex with love is the greatest pleasure in the world, and it is repressed because it is the greatest pleasure. All else is evasion." People who want to deny marriage benefits to same-sex couples are people who are themselves incapable of forming a committed and reciprocal relationship with another human being. Most people are like this. They measure success in life by only two criterion: being gainfully employed, and procreating. Once these two conditions are met, these people consider themselves to be successful. They can experience no real joy in life, and frequently turn to religion as a means of suppressing the realization that their own mental baggage prevents them from having a life. As they get older, they eventually begin to disintegrate psychologically under the weight of their own internal demons, and they become hostile and resentful towards people who can experience reciprocal love. In a last ditch effort to prevent the collapse of their own ego defense mechanisms, they decide that they have the right to harm these people. They believe that if they can’t have what other people have, then they have the right to take them down with them. This is the basis of intolerance—pure and simple. Homophobia is simply a manifestation of self-hatred. Nobody who has experienced love will deny another person the same privilege—it’s that simple, and denying this fact is nothing more than evasive rationalization.
