Breitbart) - Many illegal immigrants at a Northern California DMV reportedly were failing the written exam when applying for driver’s licenses on Friday.

Under the AB 60 law that Governor Jerry Brown (D) signed in 2013 and took effect at the start of 2015, illegal immigrants were able to apply for driver’s licenses on Friday. And nearly 1.4 illegal immigrants are expected to apply for licenses in California in the next three years.

At a DMV in south Sacramento, Veronica Oropeza, a 28-year-old illegal immigrant who has reportedly been driving without a license for six years, reportedly failed her written exam twice.

Nobody’s passing,” she told the Sacramento Bee in Spanish. As the Bee noted, “those who passed the written exam were given a driver’s permit and required to return another day to take the road test.” When Nevada allowed illegal immigrants to apply for licenses last year, 71% of illegal immigrants in the state reportedly failed the written exam in the first three days. Wanting to avoid what happened in Nevada, immigrant groups like the Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights of Los Angeles (CHIRLA) had provided free test prep classes to illegal immigrants in the final months of 2014. Oropeza had “already spent more than three hours at the DMV,” and “she couldn’t stay to take the exam a third time, she said, because she had to get to work.”

Amazingly we speak English in this country and illegals from all over the globe living in CA are expected to pass the same exam. Maybe we should follow Mexico's example...oh no, wait, Mexico doesn't allow illegals living in their country to drive or apply for social services....

But the government in Mexico heavily subsidizes healthy foods, and medicines, so those benefits are available to everyone, including foreigners.

We used to cross the border to Juarez every weekend to buy the products we couldn't afford in the US.

It doesn't outweigh the damage they do to our economy by encouraging their citizens to enter our boarders illegally. Mexico has made it crystal clear that they're no ally of the U.S., and it's not a surprise that those that do cross are becoming more violent towards Boarder Patrol Agents...

Don't worry ole Moonbeam will be giving the illegals seminars and special classes that will coach them on how to pass the test soon enough. By the way the test is being given in spanish, but it's tough to pass when you can't read in either language and maybe if your lucky have a fourth grade education.

If the test taker can't read, I wonder if they'll offer it in spoken Spanish? :hmm:

It'll soon happen in CA....but the bigger question is will these illegals have insurance in the event that they rear end you or cause an accident?

I know in SC that drivers must have proof of insurance in order to get their licenses. Of course, they could let their insurance lapse but then the insurance companies are required to notify the DMV. Then, they get their licenses suspended. Then, they're back to driving without licenses again.

I heard about written driving exam in DC is one of most difficult.

Probably, it may already be an option. I was in a CA DMV years ago and the person ahead of me missed enough answers to fail the test and the examiner explained each of the missed answers to the person, asked them if they now understood them and then told them they passed. It absolutely blew me away!

The big problem in CA is drivers getting insurance and then canceling it after they get the proof card in the mail. Until the cops have the ability to verify that the driver does in fact have insurance it will continue.

In SC, if a driver cancels his insurance the DMV is notified, and the database reflects that when the cops run the DL. The cops are able to verify the insurance on their computers. They don't depend on the insurance cards alone.

What you have to realize is that California is broke because the legislature gave away the store to it's employees and can't afford to upgrade the states computers.

Same here in CA

My friend, deaf Mexican guy told me that he can't read well either in English or Spanish since he never went to school all his life in Mexico. After he came here and learned ASL, he took the written test through video in ASL at DMV.
Example; http://apps.dmv.ca.gov/video/asl/test1q1/tst1q1.htm

Of course, he failed the first two tests and finally passed the last one.

They shouldn't get job if they don't know how to read and write.
