Since 2 AM this morning all bus drivers went on strike... I am so Pissed off. They doesn't get along with the union. I heavily rely on buses.. Read all about strike at http://www.atu.org/transitnews.html and scroll down to LOCAL 1005- MINNEAPOLIS/ST. PAUL, MN.. I am not sure whereever you live has bus problems, the union website is best place to read..

Jeez... people who go on strike have no life! There should be a law against strikes! :fu2:

Actually, I think the Metro Transit workers Union has a semi-good reason to strike. The Metro Council proposed a 3 year contract that raises health care costs for active and retired drivers. They're already paying some 230-250$ a month and under the Metro Council's contract, it would go up to 300$ something by next year, and 400-450$ in 2-3 years. A strike is rash, but they tried. The Governer seemed to side with the Metro Council, as opposed to the Union. So lets see how long this lasts. The last 2 strikes lasted a month. The last one was in 1995.

i am also deeply affected by the strike too, I take the bus 16 times a week, it gets me to school and work. Today I missed my very first class, and it sucks. But you have to find alternate means of transportation. Mine is a motorized scooter. :) I cant wait till it gets here, bastards at sportmart.com and UPS are delaying it. So for now megladon drives me to work at the wee hours of 8:30am, and my mom picks me up at 5:30.

dont blame the strikes...blame the companies who run them.

Ouch, that sucks!

Yea, I was boyscotted "No Bus Strike! on my own picket in 1988, and then 1995 boyscotts failed :( then again today no boyscotting..

Ahh memories. LA had a bus strike in the fall and I was one of millions of working poor effected by the strike. I had to walk to and from school everyday and it sucks! LA has become such a union control town and they don't give a rat's ass about millions of people that rely on them.

Keep hanging in them.

Can you tell me about the scooter? I was thinking about getting one but don't have my drivers license yet also I wonder if it would be worth it than getting a car.

I think you need to take a simple test for scooters. It's a lot different than motorcycles. It shouldn't be hard to get though. I rented a scooter with only a regular drivers licence during Spring Break last year.

back in 1997 in spring time, we had a two months fucking bus strike AND BART strike ( the metro systems for u easterns) ANYway it was SO bad i had to foot alot of walking cuz my car had been bashed in on a voilent ways, so i was stuck without no car no ride no nothing til i started college so asked a friend to be my carpool for a while til my car gets fixed took a good 4 months cuz they had to do alot of body work on the car for a while cuz i was still paying for the friggin car at the time SO i know how it feels abt having strikes i for one suffered and im soo sorry for all that are suffering now!

You're right, but the scooter i bought does not need a license. It is not a vespa, it only goes up to 15mph. :) No drivers license needed (i dont have mine either.)

i think this strike is worth it.. i believe the union is a right issue on having this on strike.. paying $300 a month for health insurance is Way EXPENSIVE!

i only pay $35 per month for my wal-mart insurance.. its cheap!

now i... pray... that Union doesn't take over Wal-mart.. they're been talking about it seesh..
