Bronchitis

Hiya Elyse!

So sorry you're sick. :( Update us every now and then and let us know when you're feeling better. I still owe you a Starbucks. :)

Maybe this is what deafdyke was referring to?

"Gentamicin is an antibiotic with high risks and should only be used when other antibiotics are ineffective. The risk-benefit decision must be weighed carefully. The risk for hearing impairment has been found in some studies to be as high as 25% of patients using the Gentamicin class of antibiotics!"

You're right, Reba. Gentamycin CAN cause hearing impairment. I've actually been given the drug in the past for a severe kidney infection. This was several years ago.

I don't know how widely gent is currently being used since most Dr's seem to go with other drugs first. Also, gent is usually given via IV, so that is NOT something that a Dr is going to prescribe unless the person is in the hospital. I would think that drugs like ethryomycin and zithromax is safer to use, and also, they are more widely used than gent is. I don't think anyone has to worry about hearing loss with these drugs.

hi everyone! thanks for support, it actually made me feel better :ily:
i hope ill get to meet you one day and have a cup of starbucks, malfoyish!

btw, what im having is mild bronchitis, so far it still hasnt gotten worse. i dont cough often because i tried not to speak (use my voice) at all and it helped to avoid hurting my lungs/chest and throat. i dont know if thats a good thing lol.
i dont feel any dramatic improvement on me, yet. its kinda hard to tell, but im always tired and got mild headaches on occasion.
like what tweetybird said, she had trouble getting better from sick in an office she worked at. thats what im going through right now. my office has no windows that can be open for fresh air. so it was always damp, dusty and dead in the office makes it difficult for me. blah.
so tonight is my 5th and last night being on antibotic, will continue with the nose and oral spray medicines for about a month. wish me a good luck! i hope ill be ok because im going to be out of town for several days. yeah, you can say i almost never get chance to rest but work and other things to do. :dizzy:

Hi E,
Feel better soon! I'm a chronic sufferer, especially during Christmasy time and Spring time. Its not fun being sick and feeling like you're coughing and wheezing your entire lungs out. I can't tell you what works, but I find I must always have a humificator sitting next to my "sick bed"

Also, Living Air has been a miracle... It freshens up indoor air, which can be a lot healther. I got two of them at my house (need to get one for my apartment). Yes they're costly but is worth it for lifetime.
