Bringing Back the Mammoths?

Yeah, but how aggressive the mammoths are...who knows.

Good question :hmm:. My logic says that they're not likely to be as aggressive as African elephants because Siberia is a very very cold desolate place... which means there are not many predators except cavemen and sabretooth tigers. it's not a place or time to get territorial. I believe they were like water buffaloes - big herd together, working together to survive in a desolate ice land in a god-forbidden weather. who knows... who knows... only one way to find out... and that's to "revive" mammoth :cool2:

Sounds about right.

lol funny way to say it - "ancient people." You could just say cavemen but yea - they're ancient people as well

Yeah... But I don't see them as cavemen because they don't live in cave on movie - "10,000 BC".

I have been hearing about this for years as well.

Honestly, I dont think its really a good idea to bring back the mammoths.

You know the old saying, "what's done is done."

So...playing God would be a sin, yes?

you can't seriously believe what you see in 10,000 BC. It is grossly distorted, don't you know? but it is amusing to watch..... especially that blue-eye girl. There are hundred of CONFIRMED proofs that cavemen live in caves. They're not actually called cavemen.... they're Cro-Magnon but they lived in cave.... hence - "cavemen".......

SO EASY A CAVEMAN CAN DO IT! :laugh2:

no! i refuse! lol. If we can, then we can. I think we should. we have a lot to learn about our past and sometimes the answers to our past can provide answers to our current problems.

Doubt they could survive long if the scientists succeed to relive them because of such viruses and bacteria that their bodies aren't costumed to fight these kinds of present time unlike their kinds back in the ice age. Short-lived extreme likely.

Maybe or maybe not, because they did say that sequenced the gene map of a long-extinct, mummified woolly mammoth, using DNA taken from its hair. But Jiro right about using the DNA Mammoth to use it on elephant to impregnant the female elephant. So, mammoths were more closely related to modern, living elephants than previously thought, and they found some elements. It possible it happen that why they offer to play million buck to make it happen. they did say it's a good possiblity to possible to reconstruct the genomes of extinct creatures. They also say they will put the mammoth in a cold climaix weather just where mammoth survive in cold weather. Let wait and see what happens.

that's gonna be difficult due to global warming :laugh2:

fu-nny!

 WHy do I have a bad feeling that this will be like jurassic park movie all over again just in real life?

hhmm.... is it cuz you think Godzilla or King Kong will wreck our city? :laugh2:

frisky, sound like! lol! "done made " and " they wake up" that it we gone to grave!

*run for your life* zoom! lol!

who said they gonna bring back the mammoths is this just a rumor because someone got too excited?

Interesting. They are looking at the DNA from the hair because it's better quality than the DNA from bone because of bacterial DNA in the latter.

Another method would be to find frozen mammoth sperm then use that with elephants to make hybrids and then breed some generations to raise the percentage of mammoth DNA by keeping adding more sperm to each female one.

Maybe they could try that with Neanderthals. :D

Maybe we can clone Fred Flintstone too

Seriously. This is all fascinating!
