Brandon Routh Confirmed as Superman!

While Latino Review broke the news last weekend, the Hollywood trades have confirmed with their sources that relative unknown actor Brandon Routh will be taking on the title role in Warner Bros. Pictures' Superman. Director Bryan Singer and crew are headed to Australia next month to begin production.

Routh's credits include One Life to Live, Gilmore Girls, Will & Grace and Cold Case. He recently wrapped his first feature role in Deadly, starring opposite That '70s Show star Laura Prepon.

eh I dunno about the new superman movie...just seems abit too soon or something like that...the superman movies just ended nearly 20 years ago so I dont think that's really long enough to make another series of the superman movies but thats up to them... it just seems that alot of superheroes sequels are getting pretty bad already...(and no I'm not talking about Spider-man 2 because it was still fucking great, really)

but just mostly superheroes movies based on DC comics and published by Warner Bros. movies like "batman and robin" and "catwoman" were definetly far the worst comic book based heroes flicks ever wasted to make millions and then another million of viewers hate those films and want to murder the director for doing such a poor job on those flicks...lol

but the most important question...will Superman's costume actually be THAT different than it appears in the comics? who knows...even Spider-man's costume didn't change that much from the comics either lol

Steel, are you aware that Bryan Singer (X-Men, X2, The Usual Suspects) will be directing the Superman movie?

According to several reports, the third and fourth movies will be ignored and the first two movies will be used as the vaguely historical backgrounds of the new Superman movie. It is said that Superman left after Superman II and came back after 6 years.

This movie is not a remake, which I am relieved to hear.

well now that you mention that's not a remake...I suppose it wouldn't ruin the superman history, after all lol

just like "batman begins" which isn't a remake or another in the series but just a prequel, right? (or whatever that is spelled lol)

let me know when there's a trailer for this upcoming film.

Didn't Jor-El perish when Krypton exploded? .....

Perhaps I should pick up a Superman DVD and see it for myself....

However OTOH Brandon Routh would be the 5th official Superman

Kirk Alyn, the first-ever Superman

George Reeves, the 2nd Superman from the 1950's TV series (not Dean Cain's "Lois and Clark")

Christopher Reeve was the third actor to take on the role. Reeve is the most familiar Superman to us. He will always be remembered the best actor ever to take up the cape. Reeve truly brought Superman to life in the 4 Superman films.

Dean Cain, the 4th Superman is still alive and doing well. Right now he is starring in the new CBS TV show "Clubhouse" and Teri Hatcher (Lois Lane) is now in "Desperate Housewives".

George Reeves? Hmm... any relation to Christopher Reeves?

They are not related.

Note that Reeves (George) and Reeve (Christopher) without the "s" at the end

Hope that clears it up.
