Boy Billed for Missing Birthday Party

How is a 'no show at the dentist' the same as what happened with the birthday party?

With the dentist I can see why they would charge a fee. Your appointment takes the dentist's time, took a spot that could have been for somebody else. So when you no show, you are taking money out of their business (thus causing them to lose money). They need to recoup it somehow.
I compared it between dentists and any companies that charge no-show fees. The birthday party host billed the boy because the company charged the host. That sucks. For example, I host a party and a company wants to know how many people will come. That's impossible to know. 100 people sent rsvp that they will come, that doesn't mean 100 people will show up. Come on now. That's a dirty business like those dentists.

I assume that you meant, "only if you don't cancel the appointment at least 24 hrs in advance". Anyway, if I have an appt today in
the afternoon and I get a flu this morning so I can't go, I refuse to pay a "no show fee". Who the hell do they think they are? All they want is money, money, money.

They will goes to collection agency and it will hurt your credit history.

It is important to communicate with them and they could exempt the no show fee under special circumstance.

There were MANY people no show up in dentist so they lost a lot of money.

You don't understand about how cost of business running and it is really cost a lot than you think.

I thought the invoice was silly. I don't know how the original invites were delivered but you'd think the party giver would have the info/address/phone numbers of the party goers in case anything comes up. She could have mailed it to them rather than sticking it in the kid's backpack. If the PLACE where they had the party wanted the money then THEY can contact Alex's parents but as it stands the birthday boy's parents were the ones who scheduled the time at the snow tubing place therefore they're responsible for all fees etc.

I shake my head sometimes at how big some birthday parties have gotten and the lengths some parents go to HAVE parties. Monkey Joe's is about all I could deal with lol (my nephew has had parties there- I think niece did too...). I was never so lucky to have a party like that... never had one.

I think he made stupid comparison.

Yea, birthday parties are becoming so elaborate and costly. I admit that I have made reservations to indoor pools, bowling alleys, and Chuck and Cheese pizza for my son's birthdays. I had his birthday party at home home twice. Once was a failure and the other was a success but it took me a whole month to decorate my backyard and then I had to clean it all up that night after the party. Yes, it is crazy and I have nobody to blame but myself. lol

That's crazy. I wouldn't make a contract with a company that charges "no show fee". Rip-off! It should be illegal.

Same with a dentist's appt, no show but it still charges a client for not showing up. Sickening!

Bold statement, actually you have to call or let the dentist office know within 24 hours that you cancel the appointment. But it is hard for the deaf to make a relay call to let them know that you changed your mind about the appointment if you remembered or almost forgot about it. :hmm:

OK, forget about dentists' no-show fees.

If I make a deal with a company that charges a no-show fee, the company makes a profit when one or more people don't show up. Whose fault is it? MINE! Because I made a deal with the company. The guests who can't show up for some reasons don't make a deal with the company.

I'd rather make a deal with a company that doesn't charge a no-show fee.

With Chuck and Cheese, you can give them the total number of kids at the last minute to update. Rather than pay for a no-show
My kids had birthday parties there. Always nice with the deaf adults chatting together and the KODA kids together. now my kids are older, I missed their pizza, really delicious. But if I go there alone or with one of my older kids, we will be suspicious and the county police will come.

, and Chuck and Cheese pizza for my son's birthdays.
