We have alcoholics, chocoholics, phone alcoholics, et al and even "drunk dialers"...(people that get drunk and dialing their friends over and over).....I call it "drunk dialing"....

Then there's the "borrower" alcoholics....people that come over and borrow and borrow..."could I borrow some sugar.....oil....ciggies....eggs....every other day, that person "borrows" something!

I try to be a good neighbor to the neighborhood, but one person has got on my last nerve, has pulled the thread thru the eye of the needle! She's a nice person, friendly and very talkative....it's just that damn "borrowing"....

I realize times are hard, but now whenever I see her crossing that street, I lock my door! The realization that perhaps I'm "too nice" just popped up in my head. I've got to learn how to say "No, sorry I'm out"!

My husband's brother not too long ago got seriously tore up and call all the family and told them my husband was dead.

But I digress. Why not just don't answer the door if you're not in the mood to lend? I decided long ago that just because someone's at the door doesn't mean you have to go. :cool2:

Ummmm..sorry you've misunderstood my thread...what I was implying was about people borrowing and borrowing, especially neighbors. I don't mind lending things....but I DO MIND if that person borrows every other day!..when ya see them coming, ya know it's to "borrow" something.

I had a neighbor like that before when my kids were little. It got so bad, I put a chain around our gate latch so she couldn't even get in the yard.

It was extreme, but she didn't seem to take no for an answer.

Ever since I finally started saying No to people, I have felt better about myself. It was hard at first but tell that neighbor "NO!" ...she will hate you but she was taking advantage of you in the first place. Not a true friend.

No, I understood. But you mentioned alcoholics calling people and my BIL came to mind.

If I were you, I wouldn't let people take advantage of me - just don't answer the door....

Good for you, Bot! Some people can be so darn "pushy and manpulative"....we do have to go to the extreme to get rid of 'em!

Right on!...I'm getting more assertive everyday....

I have a friend that suggests we go out to eat, orders the largest thing, and then asks if I can pay. Hate having to do this but now when I go out to eat I tell him to either chip in or stay home!!

i have agreed and some disagreed on posts..

many million people who have drunk during party, drive and police can arrest ASAP!!

IF you have party and dont let anyone have alcohol in your house or wedding if you makes on the lists or dont on the lists..

interesting.. I never thought of it.. hm never had that problem til now i just remembered  next door from here wud bother my dad for anything he needed to borrow but I believe he stopped bugging my dad after he got himself in trouble.. so now things are better around here but I live in a werid neighborhood ugh.. but most people knows I'm deaf os they can't expect me to hear and speak.. ugh but besides than that.. now few people are sad they wud bug people for same thing.. $$ and whatever comes on their mind but I learned to avoid them cuz they have no life.. deaf bums homeless people but sorry if I went off topic here.. but I noticed one thing about them they are embrassed about what happened to them in past so they tend to cover up about their past..

:dunno: "Borrowing" has never been a problem for me. It's very rare that a neighbor asks to "borrow" anything from us. If we know someone is working on a project that we have a tool that can be useful, we offer it. If once in a while a neighbor needs something to prepare a special meal, like an extra large container, no problem. It's not a frequent request, and we always get back the item when they're thru with it.

I do not think I would want them to borrow those items. They can have them.. I would not want them to returned those used items. :giggle:

I think the more accurate terminology is "takers." Most "borrowers" aren't really "borrowing" much of anything. :giggle:

Moochers!!

Ur Right! HAHA...She's a "moocher"....and she hasn't been back in a few days since I locked my door (but she knows I'm home).....If I see her coming again, I'm gonna say..."Hey!...I dunno what it is you need to "borrow" or "mooch", but I just ain't got it no more"!....Was thinking maybe I should go to her house every other day and "mooch" off of her!,,,She needs to "get a life"!

Can I borrow a Kleenex for my runny nose? :giggle:
