I thought Last Chance Saloon by Marian Keyes was good, too. Whooo.... then I left it on Malfy's kitchen counter for her to read. LOL I was surprised when I got back.. she let me know she was reading it then.
Zoya, Daddy, and Once in a Lifetime by Danielle Steel are some of my favorites-- altho I'm not into THIS family/romance/saga genre.
Aint She Sweet? By Susan Elizabeth Phillips was VERY, VERY good as far as a romance novel goes.. it doesn't use the typical romantic formula. It's like Johnna Lindsay meets Danielle Steel, with dabs of humor, drama, and romance. It's about a former popular girl who had it all. She was a real bitch.. a rich, spoiled kid who got taught by the school of hard knocks after high school and came back years later a changed person with noble reasons of being back in town... let's say that karma served her a very cold dish, anyway.
And she still found love out of those she tortured once upon a time. hehehe, touching....
Oooof course... there's the Harry Potter books.
Altho I only read Order of the Phoenix... I am impressed. I'll keep a lookout for other books.
Les Miserables made me cry... I don't know if I liked it. Still seemed kinda rebundant... a poor man on the run just because he stole bread. Sophocles' Oedipus Rex was pure comedy, even though, allegedly a tragedy... one of my maracabe fun reads to have. I have yet to really appreciate the older classics in literature.
I liked Dina's Book (a movie adaption was made, titled "I am Dina") and Dina's Son by Herbjørg Wassmo. Kinda mindfuckin'... lmao
When I was in my Anne Rice period, I absolutely consumed many books she was able to spit out... Lasher, Mayfair witches sagas, Interview with the Vampire (The Vampire Lestat), Queen of the Damned, Tale of the Body Thief, Feast of All Saints, The Mummy, The Witching Hour, Taltos, and Memnoch the Devil. This was after my Stephen King/Koontz/R.L. Stine/Christopher Pike period...
Then came the sci fi period... Frank Herbert ruled the roost for me, baby. Dune, Children of Dune, Dune Messiah, God Emperor Of Dune, Heretics of Dune, and Chapterhouse.... I didn't read House Atreides, or The Battle of Corrin... Butlerian Jihad, The Machine Crusade... Dune Genesis...
AAAhhhh! Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson are working two more Dune novels to complete the Dune saga.. Hunteres of Dune and Sandworms of Dune-- according to some outlines Frank Herbert created in advance.

I'm not still over my marcabe/sci fi period.
