Bold New Law Would Prohibit Those with DUI’s From Even BUYING Alcohol

I don't see how hard it could be to send a cop to the house for a few random breathalizer tests around 8pm. You wont get evey violater but toss the ones you catch in jail and squeeze um for thier supplier.

I agree with harsher punishments too.
Most communities don't have the manpower for that kind of thing.

Oh wow, more useless laws.

Prohibition and gun control laws FAILED so what next?

True. After all, underage kids manage to get hold of alcohol illegally, so I guess these DUI culprits won't have too much trouble getting it. :(

I admitted that I went to party and drank beers when I was 17 years old.

I and some of the residents in my condo have called the police more than once. From my own experience and theirs - it took them a half hour to response, assuming they did at all; some of the residents have claimed to call multiple times and they "never showed"....my condo, FYI, is just down the street a short ways from the station. You won't have the man power to keep running out for violators - they're suppliers are called bars and liquor stores, and both are legal.

In 2013 Maine had almost 4000 DUI convictions. I didn't realize how many people that would be. We just made our laws a lot tougher last year. Hopefully that will help.

I had some tenants moved in to my building a mother with her 30 yo drunken son . The damn fool would get so drunk that went into the wrong building at 11 PM or later and bang on the wrong door and scaring the crap out of woman that lived there. She said the guy passed out in the hallway and she had to call the cops . This happen a few times , the cops had to put the fool into protective custody a few times . The fool was also throwing cig, butts onto my wooden deck and in the mulch . I had to call the manger of my condo 3 times , the owner of the unit finally kicked the drunk and his mom out . The cops did not take long to get here . Damn was a nightmare the two were.

Can we just copy and paste this reminder to all other threads that suggest we do more with what we don't have or what the Koch Bros. and Washington has. I'd call this rhetorical and unfortunately it's the crux of so many issues (real or made up issues).

How are they going to keep someone else from buying it for them? Putting a breathalyzer in their car would be much more effective. This sounds like it came from the same crazy lawmaker in OK that want's to ban hoodies!

Or these lawmakers have little or nothing on their plate, so they make up something just to keep them busy and look good for community to get another vote. Lame!

Not just friend, but MONEY too. Say, if I wanted a bottle of vodka from liquor store, but I was banned from buying one... ahh idea! I pay a stranger hundred bucks for a bottle vodka that cost only 15 bucks. Who doesn't want $85 dollars profit? So, really, does not matter friends or stranger as long as profit is being made... sure!

sad but true....what is green with woman face

People are always talking about the lack of man power but when I was a kid we where constantly harassed by the cops for stupid little things. Where we a nuisance? Yes, but that man power could have been used for something better.
