Bluetooth technology for BTE?

Hello all. I am new here. I am a hearing parent of a hard of hearing 8 yr old.

She currently has phonak maxx311 bte's. I am so tired of watching her try so hard to hear the cell phone or listen to music. I can see she is frustrated. My question is this: is there a bluetooth boot that will snap onto phonaks. I saw one while searching the internet that has pins. I don't see how that could hook to her aides because her aides don't have holes for the pins to go in.

Will someone please educate me? There has to be a bluetooth adapter by now. It seems dumb to need the t coil phone technology when all phones come with bluetooth now. Headphones don't seem to be an enjoyable experience for her either.

Does your daughter have an fm system by any chance? I have phonak aids as well and i use the smartlink sx fm system and integrated reciever that attaches to the bottom of the aid and the smartlink has bluetooth...i don't use the bluetooth that often just cuz it takes alot of battery...Another solution is to ask your daughters audi if you can purchase the boots (for an fm) to see if those "pins" will fit into

My guess is that your daughter has been using the T-coil to listen to music or phone...it's difficult because many of the stuff these days are digital. It's not exactly compatible with HA's or even CI's for that matter.

You can consider on getting silhouettes type of plug. It is shaped like a very flat hearing aid, and it goes behind the hearing aid. The HA is put in T coil mode, and the cord gives some space between the device and the hearing aid to avoid feedback (T coil buzzes when it's near digital electroinic stuff). It blocks out background noise as well.

That's just another advice. I am not familiar with FM boot, as I never tried it.

she brought home her FM boots from school on accident yesterday, and this morning and I tugged on them and found it is really two pieces with the pin set-up. Thank you for your reply. Now, I have to save some money and buy both the FM and bluetooth devices.

I wouldn't have thought about the batteries. I will have to find a place to buy them bulk since the bluetooth kills them faster. She spends most of the day dancing and listening to music.


I thank you all again, and hope you won't mind me asking questions from time to time. My daughter is my life, and I think about ways to make her happy all the time.

Another thing I worry about is the fire alarms. I tested her the other day; she did not hear it to wake-up. When we were living with her mom in an apartment, we had flashing alarms, but I don't think a flashing light would wake her up. Her mom is deaf, so she noticed light a lot, but my daughter would probably sleep through it.

I also saw the vibrating products, but again, she is a hard sleeper. Too bad I can't find one like my stereo with lots of base, I know that would get her up.

No problem asking questions!

Actually, you'll be surprised how hard the vibrating alarm clock shakes. There's no harm into trying out products to see if they work. Most of them can be found on Harris Communication websites. They do have kid friendly alarm clocks.

If you want a stereo to get her up...and not bug you so much, get one with subwoofer, then you're good to go. :)

The products usually have some type of return policy as long as there is no damage to the product. As for the fire alarm there are some that you can buy that flash as well as make a VERY loud noise same goes for the doorbell cuz i know it's a pain in the ass to hear..lol my mom by accident tripped the Alarm system in the house at night and I didn't wake up and those are fairly loud as well... As for the batteries the fm system (smartlink sx-phonak which has bluetooth) it will need to be charged more often if u use the bluetooth more often. And for the ha batteries maybe try CI ones ..I have to get a new pack and I know CI batteries are more powerful to begin with, my friend has phonak naidas and she uses CI batteries instead so I'm going to give it a try. If the battery in the ha doesn't have enough juice and they almost dead the fm (with integrated receivers) will not work. I thought my ha was broken cuz my fm program wasn't working and turns out it was cuz my battery was *almost* in need of replacement

I have a regular artone bluetooth for my cell phone but I really want the Beetle stereo bluetooth because that one will let me hear the music that I have downloaded onto my cell phone. I use a regular neckloop to listen to my ipod. Hope you are able to find everything your daughter needs.
In regards to the fire alarms, I used to have one of those bed shakers when I was a young girl. They really do work, I think your daughter will feel it.

I would go the vibrating alarm clock route, it's what I use now. I didn't have a alarm clock while growing up at home. My mother would wake me up every morning by kicking me on the leg. I tend to jerk when i wake up and I accidently hit her once! LOL

When I went to college I got a vibrating alarm clock and it has work for me for the past 7 yrs now. It will vibrate really good so I recommend you put it at the foot of the bed and not at the head of the bed. I did that the first night i had that clock and I damn near crapped my pants when that thing went off!
 
Thank you all, again. I'll save up some money and try some of the options you mentioned. Madison069 thanks for the laugh. I think I'll put it at the foot of her bed based on your advice, ha-ha.
 
If you purchase the intergrated receivers for the phonak aids she has and the smartlink sx FM system transmitter than she can listen to the music through the fm system without having to buy multiple gadgets lol
