Blue Bell Ice Cream

My husband loves Breyer's Vanilla Bean Ice cream. He doesn't like the ones with egg in them and with artificial stuff.

I don't eat dairy at all but have tried coconut and soy ice cream and yogurt and like those.

My mom is lactose intolerant but she will take the Lactaid and be good with it

At the moment I only like Baskin Robbins ice cream.

Maybe it's a childhood nostalgia . My stepmother used to take me for a double scoop cone every day in summer vacation.

No wonder I was kind of a plump kid...

Wow - Bott, talk about nostalgia for me too! Baskin Robbins 31 Flavors - I sure remember going there and getting my little scoops of ice cream, and how it would dribble over the cone in the summer and get all over my face and fingers! We were usually barefoot and I remember getting chocolate ice cream drops on my toes and it would be so cold!
My mom likes to recall how I made "ice cream soup" - I would try to wait till it became more mushy - especially if I had a bowl of ice cream- and then I'd drink it. I didn't like it cold or hard, it would be too cold for me! I still don't like ice in my summer drinks.

WDYS...Doesn't Ben and Jerry's make sorbet?
I remember when Ben and Jerry's was new around here and how popular it was.

well now I want some sorbet....

thanks for posting that link about the rBGH and the ice creams, WDYS!
I didn't know that about Breyer's specifically but am not surprised.
My husband actually stopped using milk with his cereal because I can't have dairy at all, and it was too expensive to buy separate milks for each of us, so we've both been using the non-GMO almond milk for a few years now.

I'm lactose intolerant to the millionth degree. Lactaid doesn't do beans for me. I can't have milk or ice cream or I die for the half to entire day. However, I can have cheese and yogurt. Processed differently is what I was told by my doctor. Even then sometimes cheese decides it doesn't agree with me completely. However, milk and ice cream never ever ever ever ever ever EVER agree with me. I use Soy milk or eat Rice dream / Soy ice cream which are actually very yummy. :D

Dogmom , how do you like GMO almond milk ? I been thinking of trying is b/c I am lactose intolerance .

Anyone love Blue Bell Ice Cream?

I love cookie n cream ice cream - Blue Bell brand only, but other like Breyers - yuck...

Thank you for mentioning it. i ll search for it when i get a chance. i really want to try to taste from the blue bell ice cream.

WDYS!, I like the almond milk very much. Although I know of some previous concerns with the integrity of Silk brand of almond milk, it's now labeled "non-GMO" with the third party certification, and is readily available here.
Has a short ingredient list and does not carrageenan which most non-dairy brands of "milk-anything" do have. So, we mostly buy the unsweetened vanilla one All Silk Products: Healthy and Delicious | Silk

I've tried other varieties of Silk non-dairy milks and other general brands of non-dairy milk, like Trader Joe's unsweetened almond. I like that too. Their refrigerated almond milk also does-not- have carrageenan in it.

Don't know if you've seen this site: Shopping Guide to Avoiding Organic Foods with Carrageenan | Cornucopia Institute
but it's an interesting and to me useful rating guide for organic, pasture and other criteria of "holistic" or "alternative" food systems. That page is one example in the larger website. It focuses on dairy/farm.

I am not a big believer in organic food anymore, with all the air pollution etc
I feel it's really impossible to grow 100 % organic food anymore. There is no Trader Joe near , my daughter will pick up some things for when she shop out her way. I do like kefir and buy the plan kind once in awhile , I will have to check the label .

Many years ago, when I was a refugee from the west coast, I heard that Baskin Robbins was finally coming to New York. We mounted an intrepid band of ice cream eaters and motored up to Bronxville to find it.

Sure if you visit southern states or some portion of western states like Arizona, New Mexico, Las Vegas metro and Colorado because they only offered in 23 states.
