Biofuels = Crime Against Humanity

It won't last long, people are not ready for change.

Time for us to learn to use different kind of energy for our needs.
I think we can do both.

I think we can do both.
We did not do it before back in 80's when we were being warned about oil being run out, people were not willing to ready to give up some things.
I rather them not drill more oils in Alaska since it is only temporary.

People keep coming to California, demand more oil, water and land to live on. Yes we do have natural gas and hydrogen station here in my area but right now I am not ready to buy a new car. Not sure about the future if the cars are worthy to buy.

You can fill the natural gas or hydrogen at home. :)

According to this, we ran out of oil years ago:

Predictions of imminent catastrophic depletion are almost as old as the oil industry. An 1855 advertisement for Kier’s Rock Oil, a patent medicine whose key ingredient was petroleum bubbling up from salt wells near Pittsburgh, urged customers to buy soon before “this wonderful product is depleted from Nature’s laboratory.” The ad appeared four years before Pennsylvania’s first oil well was drilled. In 1919 David White of the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) predicted that world oil production would peak in nine years. And in 1943 the Standard Oil geologist Wallace Pratt calculated that the world would ultimately produce 600 billion barrels of oil. (In fact, more than 1 trillion barrels of oil had been pumped by 2006.)

During the 1970s, the Club of Rome report The Limits to Growth projected that, assuming consumption remained flat, all known oil reserves would be entirely consumed in just 31 years. With exponential growth in consumption, it added, all the known oil reserves would be consumed in 20 years.

Same goes in 1990, oil price had been up for short term.

Now, after 2003, it's seems like long or permanent term until China and India stop to demand on oil so much.

They have most population in the world and they finally catch up with us. Darn it.

Those cars are too pricey right now. I am still paying our debt with my job and pray I stay on my job for many years to come. Once all those debts paid off then I may go into some kind of energy cars and maybe solar power for my house. I have always want a wind mill in our backyard but they cost 30,000 dollars. grrr.

I think the countries with the most demand for oil should be required to pay more per gallon than those who have a lesser demand for it.

One thing we can learn from China however; during the Olympics vehicles with even numbers on the license plate will only be allowed to drive on even numbered days and those with odd numbers on the license plate will only be allowed to drive on odd numbered days. They experimented for one month in Beijing to see if the reduction would help in getting the air clean enough for the athletes and see if it actually eased congestion. Guess what, the air quality improved in just a week, and traffic congestion was also eased up.

This will go into effect during the Beijing Olympics and after the Olympics China may put this into law for ALL of China.

This would work wonderfully in the metropolitan areas of the US where public transportation is available and or your commute to work is short enough that you could actually walk or ride your bike to work.

In rural areas of the United States however where commutes of an hour or more to work are are common this would not be a viable option due to a lack of public transportation.

Also China is going to temporarily shut the factories down during olympic time to reduce of carbon emission and smoggy issue.

I think nobody read my post about Oil. Why not our America get OWN oil not belong to Arab's Big Oil.

Alaska suppose not get drill in the ground to make a OIL. The government said No.

is in China have Smog? I didn't know that. Is smog bad for health?

yes smog is bad for your health.

It is like fog, only it is smoke from vehicles, factories and such.

Like I said from other thread, USA make own oil will not solve the problem due limited oil in USA, that will last for less than 5 years if completely or major part of replace the import oil, also USA got high oil import from Canada, not in Saudi Arabia.

Hate to say, drilling oil in AK or offshore wouldn't solve the issue for demand and supply, it will be very limited and going run out in short years, it wouldn't completely replace from import oil, now... we are struck with import oil until we can find other energy source to replace the oil.

There's link about oil reserve, you can see about very limited in USA.

Drilling the oil in USA isn't answer, I'm withdraw the support of drilling after found some of research and affect to environment too.

We need save oil for plastic, lubricant, motor oil, grease and others.

Yup, alot worser than USA.

Beijing and Shanghai has more smoggy than in Los Angeles and Houston.

I might be misread. Thank you for gave me link.

That's true. I heard one of my friend live in California. She can't even breath through the city because of smog. Yuck! I am aware in China have smog.

If people has breath issue or asthma then they shouldn't live in smog infested area, they need live in little far suburb of LA, it about 15-30 miles away from center of LA, such as near foothill in San Fernando Valley, such as Sylmar has clean air, OC, South Bay (Long Beach), Westside or some part of Inland Empire that's off from smog area.

China is alot worser than in USA.

My friend live in Bakersfield, CA. She has asthma and can't live in LAX. That's terrible! I am not surprise about China is worser than in USA. That's interesting!

I read the link that you gave it to me. It's 2 much information. Canada is second rank. USA is lowest. Why not we use Canada's oil instead Saudi Arab? It's my opinion.

We already buy 99 per cent of Canada exported oil. They don't make enough.

Well, we are biggest oil import from Canada and Canada is using market to compete with OPEC, when barrel cost same and they use market to compete, however Canada isn't member of OPEC, just use market compete against OPEC.

We need move on new energy source or alternative fuel to replace the oil, that considered as renewable and you will be thankful in 10 years when introduce, also you would save alot of money for using renewable energy. Oil is no longer to be cheaper anymore due demand/supply from other countries, if we are end on wartime then it would help oil price goes down alittle but still expensive to us. If China and India are decreasing of demand on oil then it would going be cheap again.
