Bill Signed Banning Smoking In Cars With Children

Good ! It's about time ! Have to think about children come first.

FYI, I hate that smell from ciggies. Good thing, I quit 3 years ago.

I know the feeling I didnmt like the smell.. yuck! lol

Bingo. Put in that context - its not right for a Christian President to prohibit the practice of Islam, no matter much bad media the religion may be receiving in recent times. The same thing applies here to cigarettes and the tax revenue it generates. Every year the tobacco tax is raised to generate more revenue for the states, not because they want it to become too expensive for the common people to smoke.

Even though gambling is overall banned in this state - we still have two gambling establishments that are big hits - Oaklawn and Southwestern race tracks where horses and greyhounds are raced for money. They wont close these tracks because they continue to generate revenue for the state.

they will never prohibit smoking - too much tax money would be lost.

That's my whole point, Dixie. Attempting to strip away civil rights by prohibiting a legal activity such as smoking, and particualrly one in which the government gains so much, opens the door for it to bleed over into other areas.

Yep and it's hard for me to give french kisses to a smoker. I couldn't stand it. Anyway, I am glad they are doin' somethin' to protect children. I support children than adults. :)

ewww.. keep that in mind.. when u r kissing someone who is a smoker.. its like tasting the ashtray.. GROSS! ughhhhhhhhhhhh..

Does we need work on new bill for banning on smoking at house since when children are here? without children then would be fine.

Are you being judgmental? Sometimes people turns me off when they're so judge-able.

When I dated a boy while in high school, he smoked and he doesn't even taste like ashtray.

I have a hard time believing this falls in the category of chipping at civil rights. At best, this law puts restriction on where we can smoke, and smoking is not exactly the healthiest activity to have or to be around.

Wow, thats great! I love it...great for the kiddies!!

Now, why dont they come up with a new law making it illegal
for smokers to smoke IN THE HOUSE WHERE THEY HAVE
CHILDREN IN THE HOUSE???? Heck, what the difference,
being in car or in the house??? HEH!!

Im like some of you, i H A T E the smell of smoke...grooossss!!
:ugh3:

In case ya'll are wondering - no I do not smoke in the house - I take my puffing outside or in the garage if it's cold.

I dont smoke in the car if my DD is with me, and I certaintly dont smoke in places where the law prohibits it or at other people's houses if they are non-smokers.

Ive tried quitting numerous times and quite frankly I dont have the willpower to do so. By the third day Im having withdrawals and I can't stand myself. But I also look at the smoking and think damn - I could be doing so much better without the nicotine. It really is hard to quit once you start.

Dixie

You don't owe them no explanation. Everyone has an addiction, even bad or good, it's hard to kick the habit. ;)

 Unbelievable?! Whoo-hoo! Oh, wait... one more a such thing: California should be following like Washington for 25 feet of an entrance door or window that can open or a ventilation intake?
:nono: California forgot to make an adopt for 25 feet from entrance! Darn! If that true for restraunts, bowling alley within 25 feet
is missed, I will be upset.

Yup, also they must posted in spot that where's designed for smoking then not need worry about confuse at every entrance.

But it is a legal activity. Not to mention which all individual's in this country also have the right to determine how to raise their own children. An automobile is a private location. It is not a public location. Restrictions on public locations are one thing...restrictions on private locations are quite another. It is, most certainly, a violation of civil rights.

Simply becasue smoking does not fall into the category of being healthy is hardly sufficient reasonfor legislation. Eating McDonald's in the car is hardly healthy, either, but there is no law stating that you cannot eat a hamburger in your car if you so choose. Not is there a law restricting the number of times per week that you can feed your child fast food, dspite the fact that childhood obesity is a growing major health concern in this country. Personal responsiblity, people.

And you have every right to choose not to kiss a smoker. That is what this is about. If you have the right to choose not to kiss a smoker, that is all fine and well, But you cannot deny the right to another who does choose to kiss a smoker. Keep in mind, people, smoking is not only legal, it provides a huge amount of tax revenue. If the government want to prohibit smoking, then the politicians need to be willing to go the whole way and make the activity illegal and give up the millions and billions of dollars this country gains every year from the sale of tobacco products. And, for those who wish for smoking to be prohibited, you too, need to be willing to give up your freedom to choose.
