Bill: No snacks for food stamp users

that's him. his political views, the obsurd reasoning, the whining, from balitmore, now living in florida... but his love for having a big fat wennie in his mouth was the calling card of steve (steve's love of hot dogs at a ballgame)

 Long time no see.

Good catch! :D

I had a food stamp a long time ago. I was surprised that they sell some good organic food at Food Bank. I recalled the organic food products were expensive at a health food store.

A few years ago, I took my friend to the Food Stamp place, and they were strict with the customers to access to the food building. They asked her to show them her income and bank statements. I never heard of that policy. I think that it is illegal, but I don't know what to believe.

My old days was easy. I think that the snacks should be okay and it is better than no food. Now, you are saying no snacks. Wow. That's not good news for new food stamp customers.

The food bank in my city requires that if you are getting more than a weeks worth of food that you should your expenses and income.
Sadly a lot of people will cheat the system and by showing that you are in need they can tailor programs to help you.
If you make more than enough money but still end up in the hole at the end of the month, the food bank here will help you figure out your finances and budget better. They offer free classes and one on one help with financial planning.
If you don't make enough money to make ends meet and you have cut all the expenses you can they will put you in contact with an agency that will help you to secure a better income while still providing you with food until you can survive on your own.

They make sure that people get the right help, not just a bandage. And I see this town as another layer of hell, there are definitely better cities with better help all across Canada.

Yes "SteveMcGarrett" is Steve D********* aka ravensteve aka buck dodgers. He may have a different IP and may not confess. After reading Steve's posts, without a doubt, this guy is the banned "alledged" pedo.

Steve what's new in your life? are you still living with your mommy and daddy? aren't you 50 yet? are you still trying to date 14 year old girls? :ugh:

Good to know, CC....(and happy to see ya back here!). This guy was getting on my nerves ...Wanting a hand out (food stamps)...and him being 50 years old?...Still with Mummy & Daddie??....Buying Pepsi's with food stamps and complaining "boo hoo! Florida won't give me but $30 dollars worth"!....I would have taken those Pepsi's and stuck them in his arse where the sun don't shine!...$30 dollars of Food Stamps can feed a family of 4 for a few days if they are careful....

i cook everything from scratch, bake my own bread..i rarely fry anything..but i am fat!!!
ive always been fat, it seems.
personally, i am sick of the "war on obesity" because its really just a replacement for the "war against big tobacco" from several years ago...who knows what will be next?

I know how you feel. I have always cooked from scratch, and made our own bread from whole grains that we grind, and we use brown rice instead of white. I used processed foods very little. I used yogurt instead of sour cream. My weight ballooned, and I have inflamed joints and other health problems that made exercising a nightmare. It was a viscious cycle.

Turns out some of us really can't handle the carb-heavy American diet that those of us on lower incomes tend to rely on- potatoes, pasta, grains, starchy root vegetables etc. Then we diet, thinking low-fat is the way to go, the body thinks we're in famine and refuses to let that fat go, so things go from bad to worse.

Fat isn't what causes fat, at least not for some of us. It's excessive carbs, which trigger excessive insulin production. It's the wrong fats (when the government told us to rely on margarine and canola oil, the government was giving deadly advice).

You might want to read some stuff by Gary Taubes, or Wheat Belly, by William Davis.

I've been doing Atkins, with zero additional exercise, and I lost ten pounds in January. I must have lost more in inches, because I had to take in two skirts. I have a long way to go, but my joints hurt much less, too. I also take turmeric for that, and I am not sure which helps more.

I dont see any Food Banks in Florida. If i did if they have Pepsi or Coke id take it. America used to have Free Cheese programs but no more. They stopped that program 3 years ago :(

Say it...you want everything to be FREE!....No matter if everybody else has to pay for it...you want to get it FREE!

Not the samething. I get my EBT card. Buy 10 Bottles of Pepsi for 1.59 each. Slide it in EBT machine. put my PIN Number in and my recipt says Total $15.90 NO SALES TAX! Thats the way i want it.

So...ur using the EBT Food Stamps to buy Pepsi's....

No, that's legal. Food stamps are only supposed to be supplemental and only for people who need them. You have to prove your income level.

My old days was easy. I think that the snacks should be okay and it is better than no food. Now, you are saying no snacks. Wow. That's not good news for new food stamp customers.

Oh, I think food stamps customers should be able to use their own money for anything they want to buy. They should be able to use government (that is, taxpayer) money for snacks like raisins, apples, pears, peanut butter or sunflower nut butter if you're allergic to nuts, cheese, berries, nitrate free lunch meats, whole grain crackers and breads, eggs, pickles, olives, celery, lettuce, popcorn made from scratch, fruits, vegetables, tuna salad, all kinds of other things that are real foods.

I just don't see why the taxpayers should have to pay for other people to have cokes, cookies, pies, cupcakes, twinkies, frozen pizza and corn dogs, potato chips and chocolate bars.

I don't buy those things with my own money, how is it fair that I be forced to pay for somebody else to buy them with my money?

Bad news: no EBT's or Pepsi's 150 years ago.

So...ur using the EBT Food Stamps to buy Pepsi's....

My husband was at a convenience store paying for gas the other day and the customer ahead of him used her EBT card to buy some of those Monster caffeine drinks.

He was told at the grocery store where he used to work that this was illegal. I don't know how the convenience store got away with it.

Grocery store customers use their EBT cards for cokes and chips and junk like that all the time. Hardly ever did my husband see them used for stuff like fresh vegetables, fruit, flour, butter and eggs.

You make some good points. I've heard that the Atkins diet is really good for short durations. Exactly how long? I don't know. But I totally agree that Americans eat way too much carbs. It's sad for me to admit, but I am doing nothing to cut my intake of carbs. :( And I need to.

Probably because of how the convenience store is cataloging them (as food?). It's possible there is intentional miss labeling in the computer to boost the convenience store's profits.

That would make sense. If that's what they are doing, then the store is committing fraud on two points- one with the EBT cards, and again with taxes. I could be wrong, but I think Monster type mega-caffeinated drinks are not considered foods, so they are taxed. So by calling it food, the convenience store is cheating on taxes, too.

I wonder how much that happens? I know a lot of people prefer to use their EBT cards at convenience stores.

Yes, it's done all the time here where I live also, I've seen people doing the same thing!

Yup, I figured it out based on his grammar.

I'm absolutely hate pedophilia and they are extremely gross.

Steve, you need go to mental hospital and seeking for professional help, also don't be closer to children and teenagers.

BTW, C.C. Sinned, welcome back to AD.

Excessive calories is what causes fat gain. If you do not burn off as many calories as you consume, they get stored in your body as fat. No matter what diet you're on be it carb-based or protein-based, that's a fundamental irrefutable fact.

or he probably lie to us.

The food stamp should be around $70-$100 per month for single, depending on income.

If food stamp isn't enough then go to school and study so hard so you can get better job.

Yup, that's correct and if anyone want eat too much sweet food so they need exercise really MUCH to burn more calorie.

She can collect the sales fliers from local grocery stores and ask the kids to make a poster showing healthy vs unhealthy snacks using those pictures.

Yes, but I think what the teacher might want to do is actually teach kids to apply the knowledge to their life. It's great to know what foods are bad and what foods are good, but totally different when it actually clicks for a child and makes them look at their OWN lunch and make healthier choices.

yep, grammar is a dead give away. So are habitually misspelled words, incorrect quotes and personality.

now I'm going to step away, sit back and wait. Alex and mods can investigate or for Steve to respond. Steve has read this topic twice since noon and has yet to respond, which speaks volumes, huh?
