Best Deaf Cell Phones? Samsung Galaxy Note II is one!

There is so many phones to choose, and people pick what works best for them. I know some people are egoistic who brags that their phones are the best... good for them. I'm happy with what I have, if someone is happy with iPhone... good for them. I can make suggestions but the decision is entirely up to them to fit their budget and their needs.

What i like, is ONE app with all features gathered.
In an emergency situation, you are not going to browse through a bunch of different apps to do all sorts of thing, its not going to happen.
I can tell you, if youve ever been in a real emergency situation, you have trouble thinking clear and rationally, if you get everything straight in your face, you dont have to think, just push...

Once you set it up it does, just like how you would have to set up your program/app.

I'm not saying it is better, but similar.
 
Well, I have toyed with several dumb phones (Oh sorry, I mean smartphones), and I had to say this, Samsung S-5 is the one! After toying with it and I dropped my mouth few times already with new features and other enhancements.
Sure, it is water resistance, I tested to prove it, yep it is but not exactly waterproof. It will leak if left underwater more than 30 minutes I think, as long as two openings must be closed. It was intended to reduce oops, and not meant to go into water on regular basis. Im ok with that.

Friend of mine has Note III and I compared my S-5 and his, and yes S-5 has some that is already advanced.
 
I got the HTC One M8 last week instead of the S5 because it sounded better to me (call quality and music) and I like the metal body. However I probably would've been happy with the S5, too. It's a great high end phone that can do it all. For deaf people I would think the large screen on the Note 3 and Lumia 1020 for signing would work good too.

No, it doesn't. I should've clarified that I'm HI, so I need my phones to be able to go very loud and be clear to help me.

It would be to those who still have SOME hearing left and like to listen to music.

That's one of the things I look at too. Even though my speech discrimination score is in the toilet (and it is in real world terms too) I still would like something that's clear and loud enough.

I've been eyeing the Galaxy s5 or Note but can't afford it right now and it may be a while. Only concern I have is carrying it around easily enough or which is better for voice/VCO...
 
The S5 would be a little easier to carry than the Note 2 or 3. I have large hands and found the Note 3 to be pretty big and it'd require both hands to operate. It's more a phablet, being that it's between being a phone and a tablet, which makes it ideal for video chat and signing while still being more portable than a tablet.

If you want to go with a cheaper solution, the Motorola Moto X ($350 w/o contract or $0.01 w/2-year contract) is an excellent phone. Feels real good in the hands, the volume is nice and loud, and it has a bunch of excellent features. The voice command stuff even works well, it didn't seem to have any issues with my speech impediment, amazingly enough. It is a little older and slower compared to the more recent high-end phones, but it is still good for a year or two and is a ton of value for the price.

If you want to go even lower in price, there's the Moto G ($200 w/o contract) and finally the Moto E ($120 w/o contract). Both are great phones for the price, and like the Moto X, I found the volume to be quite loud at max and voice clarity excellent.

The voice command stuff I don't really care for- my speech is good but I do tend to be quiet in volume (only because I THINK I'm being loud enough..:hmm:) so that's not too important to me.

Definitely need to find a cheaper calling plan though.. may have to dump TMobile after having it for almost 20 years (had it waaay back when I had the Talkabout and the original SideKick).
 
I really could use a new phone and it's getting very hard to find landline phones in stores today. I may have to buy a cell phone which I really do not want.
 
I have a cordless landline I'd love to get rid of.. Has extra loud volume.
 
Ahh gotcha-- yeah that is why I don't use mine anymore.. I can't hear well on them now.. used to be able to.. not so much now :( think I'm slowly losing what's left of my hearing.

If you're not doing too much calling, it might be cheaper to go with a pre-paid plan. The only problem with that is that you either have to use your current phone(s) or buy one off-contract. The dumbphones are real cheap for pre-paid, but if you want a smartphone, the Motorola Moto E at $120 would be the best bet for a real cheap solution while still having a smartphone. Most stores like Walmart, Best Buy, Target, and pharmacies have pre-paid cards you can buy and stay stocked up on. It's also a wonderful and easy way to have family and friends buy them for you to help out.
 
I'm waiting to see what the new iPhone 6 will be like. I have the last video I took of my cat that passed on my current phone so I'm not in the mood yet. Maybe next year.....

You could get a Youtube account and upload it there so you will always have it.

You can set it to private if you don't want other people finding and watching it.

But that is a way to preserve memories.

I have the Samsung Galaxy S4 and it only has BT capability, no telecoil which is also a pain as I have to wear a neckloop for the BT capability. A telecoil is much friendlier to hearing aids.

All these new phones are touch screens, but with these phones you can download different apps to suit you. You can also increase the size of the texts etc, and there are different keyboard choices. You can also give voice commands and never have to type. Many other choices on the phone for Assistive Hearing. I also downloaded an App to increase the volume of the phone ring, which I very rarely hear anyhow.

That's an excellent idea. I don't think I thought of that before. I have uploaded videos to Facebook, but not to my YouTube. I have lots of videos of Millie that I should post to my YouTube.
