Best city for Deaf people?

Oh, I agree. Most of the places with the lowest cost of living are going to be small and likely to be very remote. I couldn't handle that kind of isolation. I like my activities and the diversity.

And, as far as the Deaf are concerned, you will find the biggest concentrations of the Deaf in larger metro areas. Services are more available.

Yep. Hence why I want to move back to Richmond. I have some ideas on how to get back but I need to work out on some ideas first and I need to get in touch with some people about this tomorrow.

Austin, tx

I mean I go to wendys or a laundromat and *gasp* random deaf people are there sometimes! OH MY GOD! (yes thats happened)

cant say thats happened anywhere else ive ever lived....

Just wondering the weather in Riverside, is perfect? I don't think so.... worst smog in Riverside county... good thing I don't live in Riverside. I live in Orange county that sided next to Riverside county.....

Honestly, I don't remember seeing smog...I mostly remember blissful weather. I love Orange county but whew...it's expensive!!!

Well. To each on its own. I have visited Austin and they are not for me. Have you visited San Francisco/Bay Area? :hmm:

Oh, I LOOOOOOOOOVE San Francisco. In fact, I was just telling my husband I was in the mood to take a spontaneous visit there. Well, now, what's wrong with Austin? ;)

what do you like about SF? for me i think Palmerston North New Zealand is great, no water too close (tsumani) no snowstorms, no real bad winds just a blow pass, no scorching summer but sun get hot enough (last summer we were the hottest in the country), nice small city, everything is here, good deaf community, good for hunting, cheap to live, only problem, not enough young deaf here, and deafs here are too traditional...which cant be surprised for given its size and age of the town...

Just about any city close to a Deaf school have deaf friendly communities. :)

HIGH cost-of-living

Nope only if you have a brain.

When you found some cheap apartment, and get a really good job, you are doing fine. First year I moved in, I live in $700/1br apartment (cheaper if you live with a roommate), and the minimum wage here is higher than Austin for sure, and I see no difference about that. IF you plan to purchase the house, it cost a bit higher than Austin, because here have a very low Property Tax, only 10% compares to Austin, NYC, DC, Florida.

Yo, don't be dissing on my city of birthplace!!! >:|

I diss everything in Austin, except that hospital that is where you born, a place of human breeders where they kick Austiniters out of Austin. :D

Why not you study at UT? Are you coming back to Austin after you graduate from MIT? :hmm:

It's one of the worst places for smog in the country cus all the nasty air from LA gets blown over here! And it's in Riverside County, not quite Orange County.
