Best Buy Geek Squad is full of discrimination.
I used to work as window technician for 4 years. My job is to install windows at new houses, replace windows, etc. I work 50 houses per weeks (10 customers per day) and I am 5th generation deaf and I don't speak at all. My company was very lucky to hire me, because I got plenty of customer's positive feedbacks, and won several recognition from my company. They were very sad when they found out I'm leaving their job for a new life in California.
Were you required to communicate with customers? The OP talked about a Best Buy job that pays to fix electronics AND communciate verbally with customers so that's why he was not hired. That's a different story.
I understand his ASL, thank you very much. My previous job does require communication, but my boss don't believe my deafness affect the work itself, and they can always find in different way to communicate such as writing, gesture, and some customers understand ASL. Geek Squad is all about 1. Problem Solving 2. Completing on time 3. Customer Satisfaction 4. Professional work ......does it need a deep communication to fix the problem? Customers who cry can kiss my ass.

same goes with my freind who worked in window tech at circuit city. deaf and he has same attitude as you. when he left, they cried a river as thy lost a smart tech. I too worked in pc field but I traveled on the job and did 5-10 customers a day in a 125 mile zone circle. The system admins who knew me always prefer mee to work with them then the other tech because they know I get the job done and fast and well. Problem is getting your foot in the door.

The part about Circuit City....that reminds me when I was being interviewed but got turned down because they won't hire salesman who are deaf. Lots of communication skills for sure.
Of course, that's nothing new. Did you expect that they would pay for an interpreter to work with you all day if you were hired?
Yes, there is one Deaf guy with a poor English level works at Best Buy. His name is Luis and lives in North California near Bay Area.
