There hardly been any updates for more Xbox games to be playable on Xbox360...there were alot of rumors saying that MS has left the backwards compatiable plan as an excuse since Sony dropped the bc on the newer models to cheapen the price. If thats true, then MS has made a pretty stupid move. They've lied to us from the begining saying they would make sure ALL Xbox games are compatiable before the next Xbox console comes and it seems it would proably never happen. It been almost a year and nothing happened. I felt ripped off since I've sold my Xbox and was waiting for some of my xbox games to be playable on the 360 seems its never going to be updated anytime soon.

Way to go, Microsoft, you cheaped us out.

I think Sony released the software emulation at PS store that allowed to emulate game for PS3 with no BC support, not sure.

Yup, I noticed about MS don't update the BC list, last time was Nov 2007.

I think Microsoft prefers to re sell the SAME games to us via XBL Marketplace. Although rumor has it that we will get a handful of free XBOX games on September 25, but only for those who have been loyal Gold members for a while. How long do you need to have been a member, I do not know. I hope 2 years is good, because I am going on my 2nd year currently..

I've also read that a number of games ended up being buggy or not playing as smoothly as on the XBOX, so there may be a number of issues. It also needs to be approved by the publisher of the original game for BC too.

This is exactly why I do NOT get rid of any of my older systems. The only system that I don't need is GameCube because the games are 100% BC on the Wii. So I don't "need" it anymore.

Since I have X360, I'm shipping out my old XBOX to my brother and get it modded and put all the games on there...games in Iraq is 3 bucks. :) So I can have any of the games i want. :)

Other than that, I think BC in the future will always be an issue because of the hardware. I would think that if the newer consoles do not have BC, it could be cheaper. I don't know, but I would think so...unless if it's pretty much just programming.

So...word to the wise...never sell any of your old consoles.

Gamecube is completely BC due PPC support, no need to re-written the games over again but both of PS3 and Xbox 360 are transition, such as Intel (x86) into PPC for MS and EE to PPC for Sony.

Next gen of Xbox, after 360 will return to Intel again, wow, no BC support without emulation, using emulation for PPC based games on Intel system are really painful without patch, MS or game developers would have to write an new patch to support it on every games.
