That is because the significant portion is so vocal...think Tea Partiers.:P Those that are not so gullible are generally not as vocal. No need to be. They aren't buying into the emotional manipulation and lies.

You say that, but when I look at the people around me, I do not see what you're saying at all. I see an electorate who increasingly do buy into emotional manipulation, lies and distortions (on both sides!) or who are increasingly disengaged from participating in the formulation of public policy, and by now simply don't give a fuck.

Very often, those who aren't as vocal aren't simply because by now, they couldn't care less about much of anything happening with regards to anything even vaguely political. And that's its own form of gullibility, since they simply assume that because everything has been at least tolerable, if they stay disengaged, it will remain at least tolerable.

Or maybe just headline readers. I have recently read of ingenious ways they are used to plant ideas into people's heads. :|

Oh, yeah! I took a social psychology seminar that dealt with just that topic. It was an eye opener.

And, most ad agencies have a social psychologist on staff to accomplish just the same thing.

I think I took a course in that in graphic design. You ever notice how most food labels are red in grocery stores? Red is used in restruants and grocery stores to simulate the appetite so people will buy food.

That's probably the best 48,364th post I've ever seen on this site.
