AT&T suing Verzion over using outdate 3G maps on ads

well.... do you see handful of deafies using those international business-purpose phones? and plus - lot of deafies do not opt for Verizon because of mandatory voice plan which add cost - something that they do not want.

You are wrong, consumers can pick data only under Verizon like I did.

There's att 3G coverage in dark blue.

No, Verizon use att 3G coverage map that according to att website and att haven't update the coverage map for 3G yet so it is all att fault that don't update the 3G coverage map on their website.

Verizon isn't lying since they use accurate 3G coverage map that att has one on website.

If a company "A" post an inaccurate or outdated information something about themseleves then another company "B" take it and claim it to be accurate ... It company "A" fault?

No because company "B" reponisbly is to make sure the information they taken is accurate before making some claim on it in their ads.

Verzion is a multi-dollar busniess and pretty sure they already researched and knew that the AT&T map was outdate by 3 some years but went ahead ran an ad which was misleading.

That map was real but they were misleading people with thinking it was up to date map with the ads.

Running an ad with inaccurate information is called "false adversiting" or "misleading adversiting"

If Verzion wasn't in the wrong then AT&T would had no ground to file a lawsuit againist Verzion.

It like AT&T taking 5 year old Verzion map and run an ads comparing it with it newest AT&T 3G map making Verzion look like it have few EVDO in USA compare to 3G.

And 5 year old Verzion map is real but AT&T will still be blame for trying to misleading people with an 5 year old Verzion map because they found it on the internet and claim it to be accurate :D

here is for add on "Data Plan" Coverage ( AT&T ) check -->
AT&T Coverage Viewer

================================================

You and deafscotter are just misread because Verizon use compare with coverage for 3G only, not entire or national coverage so please read so carefully, when you see coverage that Verizon show on ads is all about 3G only, white on map is means non-3G and no services.

Google it up and learn about 3G, it meas broadband style wireless internet.

Deafscotter, I don't care about world phone or GSM, I don't plan to visit other countries or so, I'm Verizon user and Verizon does sell some world phone (combined of GSM and CDMA), same with Sprint as well. This thread is all about coverage in US, not other countries so sticking with discuss about US wireless coverage.

I own BB Tour that use combined of GSM and CDMA.

Att is suing Verizon over 3G coverage but not national coverage like sequioas said 3G coverage for att is smaller than national coverage, Verizon is just compare the coverage for 3G only.

Look at the blue...that's 3g.

The highlander said Deafscooter is not correct about coverage. It is not 3G. It's EDGE.

highlander - nice catch! wondering why AT&T is using 4 barely-different blue legends :hmm:

SUSPICIOUS, huh?

You all are debating over an outdated old AT&T map ...

There is no update map of AT&T 3G avaliable to the public and it even the same outdated map that Verzion use in their ads.

Everyone knows that Verizon have much more EVDO coverage than AT&T 3G coverage in USA but it wasn't the point to being with.

The point was Verizon ad was misleading and AT&T is suing them for it.

No, Verizon is using existing att 3G coverage that att has one on their website and that isn't 3 years old so go to att.com to check coverage map and compare with other one that Verizon posted the ads.

Att is just want find excuse to stop Verizon from compare with 3G coverage.

Why AT&T still have outdated AT&T map on their website right now?

Verzion has already put the fine print on the bottom very brief on end before the ads running ending. at&t has failed to read it and took impulse action against Verzion.

Update or not, at&t is responsibility to keep it update.

btw, at&t has large EDGE or 2G coverage which is lame.

foxrac, WOW, I didn't know that. ATT misled me motherfucker. It seems Verzion is telling the fucking truth.

let's not assume lot of deafies are poor to travel.

technically yes you are correct. but then deafscooter is also right that you can simply remove your SIM card and use it in any other cheap phone in foreign country.

No.

Why bother to buy other cheap phone in foreign country if you already have mobile GSM network ready? Just buy the prepaid sim card from foreign country and put sim card in your BB.

I assume you don't visit out of country with mobile before.

My family and I use prepaid sim card for out of country before. :)

AT&T is greedy, ever since they got broken up by the government when they were found to be a monopoly. Now AT&T is buying back companies that was broken up by Big Brother while under Bush Jr.

Companies like AT&T never did like competition and will do anything to get get to and stay on top as a phone company and will do anything to destroy competitions so they can rake in all the dough for themselves.

Since Verizon has the bigger pie of the business, AT&T started looking for excuses to steal that piece of that pie. Therefore the reason why they're pulling something out of their ass to sue them. It won't hold in court, if Verizon's attorney is finding the same stuff as you are, they'll beat the suit.

Then it's pointless to bring mobile to other country. Just buy prepaid sim card with mobile.

You want to use SIM card from USA for other country? Good luck with bill. :giggle:

get international plan just for a month. that's what my vancouver friends are doing

I don't think AT&T is using outdated 3g coverage at all. I've driven to areas where there's no 3g coverage...it's just like they show on the map.

On Verizon ads it clearly show there is no 3G coverage in South Dakota when AT&T do have 3G coverage in that state.

South Dakota 3G coverage is not even shown on AT&T map either.

I travel a lot for my work and in several small town I been to this year have 3G coverage that not even show on map yet.
