Astronaut charged with kidnap attempt

Wow..she drove 900 miles wearing a diaper so she wont have to make stops!!!

NASA is now reevaulating their space program and the effects from the rigorous trainings on the astronauts.

Anyone can snap which is what makes this scary.

I would have thought that they already had programs in place to evaluate all candidates for the astronaut program. It has always been a tough program and that would be one of the first things one wanted to weed out from the program...people with any tendencies to be "unbalanced" or unsuitable.

They do but NASA admitted that they didnt do follow-ups. Besides, Lisa's life started falling apart. My feeling is that she has very controlling type "A" personality and when things fell out of her control, she lost it. I could be wrong but that is my feeling is what happened.

Well, this time... they learned and will work on it.

We can't expect everyone to be perfect the first time around.

With that woman's behavior, I think it has brought bad image in NASA programs. And they are waking up and making changes in psychological screening on astronauts. But still, they can outwit them and do anything stupid like that lady did. This is unheard of before and we rarely heard of such stories in the past. It just bizarre twist and shattered the image of NASA that they had to deal with the loss of a couple of space shuttles Challenger and Columbia as well as Apollo 1. I'm always fascinated with the space program and how the space life is like. With the latest news I think it will take a while for NASA to be back to normal after they get over with this bizarre acts of this astronaut.

A reasonable assumption. Anybody who wants to an astronaut would be a type 'A' personality. I just can't see a laidback person being an astronaut...

Yea, that's why I assumed she must have a type "A" personality. It is usually people with those kind of personalities who needs their lives to be structured and in control.
