Jiro,

Yes, the BrailleNote GPS is awesome. :) It can give me street names, directions (north, south, east, west or left/right), speed limit of the vehicle I'm traveling in as well as the names and addresses of businesses or residences that are in my immediate vacinity. I can also input the name of any city in the United States and it will allow me to "look around" to find out what is there. In addition, I can specify a particular destination and the BrailleNote will tell me how to reach it. Before I received my CIs, I used the BrailleNote GPS to travel on the bus independently. Thanks to my BrailleNote, I didn't have to worry about being unable to hear the bus driver call out my stop because I could sit back, relax and read the Braille display. :)

Sounds really neat!

Don't need map if I have eyes and a brain.

Sunrise is the east. Sunset is the west. Bright shining star is called North Star.

Common sense. Indeed.

You also don't need a (Braille/tactile) map if you're blind. If you're in an unfamiliar area, you simply ask other pedestrians for directions.

I hated to navigate, but not really because it's a pain in the ass when you are on a road trip and kinda get lost in the middle of nowhere and have no idea where to go. Opening the map and trying to tell where you are won't often get you out. Speaking of navigating, I'm going to work with HOVRS as a Rep. and Trainer so which mean I need to go across the map navigating when to setup MVP to a client's house. Ouch...at least the money's good. I'm going to learn how to navigate well.

I love to navigate, in my local hometown, I mostly do not need to use my GPS (I have one) but if I dont know that street name, I use the GPS, but some famailar names nearby gets me there easily. But I use the GPS sometimes when I am in Sydney, but since I have been frequent to Sydney, I got to learn the roads there easily before I bought the GPS. I was lucky enough to famailarise these underground tunnels, since it disconnects the signals from the GPS when I drive in. :)

I don't use my Garmin GPS every day but I m going to work for HOVRS to use it.

I miss my old day as there was only simple map in book or folder to look up. I survived to got in mostly right spot. Now, thing getting easy but sometime roads are so wrong.
