Have you ever cracked, break, snap any tools that you uses?

Cheap tools made in China are well known to skin your knuckles or cuts you if you overdo it. It even collasped on you when you tried to squeeze it (especially cheap needle nose pliers that I used it and it collasped on me under my fist strength :rofl: ) Ever tried to use China made Raquet and socket and it breaks on you when you tried to loosen or tightened the bolts??

Ever thought that you locked the vise grip hard but it turned out that you bent the "bridge" of locking mechanism on vise grip :eek2: ??

Some high quality tools breaks because you're too strong for it :rofl:

I even cracked several Craftsman socket with my strength. 17mm 6 stars 3/8th socket on 3/8th raquet cracked when I use it to loosen frozen nut on front end tie rod. I thought I stripped the nut and I cringed but it turned out it's still in good shape :squint: . I checked my socket. Ugghh!! :ugh: :roll:

I got the tie rod nut loosened by heating with Mapp gas torch then loosened it with 17mm 12 stars 3/8th socket that I don't really want to use it but had no choice :eek:.

My friends had been calling me "Tools breaker" sometime because I breaks tools. I told them Tools breaks on me cuz it's cheap!!!

I did strip plenty of screw heads with a screwdriver, stripped the socket wrench gears, oops.. I haven't bent or snapped any socket wrench yet. I'm not heavy on repairing cars or stuff.

Well it's depend what size like 12mm socket on 11mm nuts can damage the tools and nuts. Did you know that? I alway check correct size like use hand to turn if it is loose or tight. If too loose then go down size till tight.

I break the drills few times when I was force too hard on the wood, engine, metal, etc.

Of course I know that. I made sure that socket fits snugly on nuts. Sometime a wee bit wiggle is OK. If it's a big wiggle, it's a big NO NO. Sometime MM sockets is too loose and other MM socket won't fit in, I use Inch socket and it fits snugly on MM nut. It can be strange.

I refuse to use 12 star sockets cuz it can do much damage on nuts and bolts and it's a knuckle skinner!!!. I prefer 6 stars sockets cuz it grips firmly and allow me to put in more torque on it. I rarely use 12 star socket like loosen the Torx head bolt off the Mazda head. It works really nicely and handle torque very well. I was leery at first but it didn't strip at all.. Surprisingly.

I am agreed with you. I stay avoid from star sockets. I noticed mostly japanese car almost use all MM but american car mix MM and Inch. WTF!
 
I hate goddamn 12-points star socket. It's so easy to strip it :mad2:

Worst case scenario if the bolt is completely stripped? I have to take my dremel out and make a notch on it so I can use a screwdriver to pry it open.

Yeah it was American car that can be funky. That's why I used Inch socket on MM sometime (especially it's a large bolt or nut). It's kinda weird. American car fequrently use 13mm, 15mm, 17mm while Japanese car uses 8mm, 10mm, 12mm, 14mm and 17mm but no 13mm and 15mm. ever notice that??

I often use impact sockets, 6 point, 3/8 or 1/2 drive to break bolts/nuts with long handle break bar or ratchet then loose with air impact tools. If 12 pts head bolt/nut, use 12 pts impact socket and break bar or ratchet. I invested about $5k worth of impact or hard chrome sockets alone in my cart & box.
They are Snap-On, Mac Tools,and Matco Tools. Easy to exhange broken or worn sockets. I fed up with the Craftsman's chrome sockets.
If you use 12pts chrome socket on the 6 pts bolt or nut then socket crack or strip bolt/nut.

As for 12pt socket. I'm always leery over it. I only used it very little which is why 12pt sockets are more shinier and cleaner than 6 pt sockets :giggle:

I agree that I don't like Craftsman but that's my budget I could afford, I just want lifetime guarantee. I'm not a career mechanics. If I'm a career mechanics, I would want either Snap-On or MAC tools, no hint of cheap one :lol:

What about racquet internal teeth system? Coarse or fine teeth such as 40 teeth against 72 teeth. Have you ever had failure with 72 teeth racquet? :lol: All I know 72 teeth racquet is good for tight spot while coarse teeth good for general spot.

I have 8 points socket for square head bolt. I use it exclusively for Garage door spring and pulley square head bolts. I just replaced pair of torsion spring (not extension spring) that broke last week (It was 7 years old, just right time to break). Square head bolt are rarely used and I already had 3 sets of 8 point socket came with Craftman tool sets. It's nice to have it cuz it fully grips the square head very well and allow you to tighten or loosen without worry about stripping it.

I think my Craftsman 1/2 drive ratchet w/long handle in my garage's box, still have coarse teeth that still broken teeth, didnt exchange it since 5 years (3rd time for broken ratchet). I broken my SnapOn 3/8 drive ratchet
w/ short handle, found to be broken lock lever not to the fine teeth drive head. One time in my automotive mechanic career.

Interesting "dog bone" but I don't trust using it cuz it slips if tried to use strength to loosen or tighten bolt... PLUS it's 12 points!! No thanks!!

hey I pop up my mind that I remmby I saw my uncle had his dog bone wrench in his box when I was about 8 yrs old. Thats why I recogized it. Hey, Jiro. Thanks for post a pic of the dog bone wrench. I remmby I saw my engine rebuilder who used it to adjusting the valves while the the fresh short or long engine block in the dyno machine prior to ship out. I think his dog bone wrench was Snap On tool cuz of the shabby sockets that can adjust valve lock nuts down on the threaded studs.
 
I've broken 3 breaker trying to break axle nut. its not me, its cheater bar. :lol:
 
I always break a breaker bar all the time when I am working with axles. There even from Snap on! I never use cheap tools. Only the name brand ones.

Yup, even expensive tools breaks. Surprisingly, nuts or bolt didn't even break or chewed off!!

I never like cheap tools when breaking the nuts or bolts. It'll hurts you if you do.
