I know this should be in computers forum, but due to the severity, it is best left in General Discussion forum.

Over the past weekend, I got a few emails and IMs from several Deafies. There seem to be a virus spreading thru emails, so please check and clean your computer by running the scanner at

Also, if you know of some good free antivirus softwares or online scanner, post them here!!

Ad-Aware is not antivirus. It is a tool that removes spywares and unwanted cookies.
 
There is also the symantec website. www.symantec.com I think it is. Beware that some programs claim to be antiviruses yet are the viruses themselves. Always double check what you are getting.

Yes, I do have that software in my computer last week. it is very helpful for me to see whom sent me email with virus. The pop up tells you, it is virus or scann everytime you send out the email to other people.

Also, scan those viruses every weekly. It helps me alot.

I have never gotten a virus by accident. I have purposely downloaded viruses to learn how to remove them properly. My tip. Don't download anything unless you're 100% sure you know what it is AND keep your antivirus definitions up to date.

any anti-virus programers WILL not kill or clean the dirty files!

Simple reformat your HDD, make it new life. heh heh
 
McAfee is usually the best that I have.. I've not had any problems since I had McAfee installed. :D
 
My roommate has the latest Antivirus Norton and always scan his computer. But I had him check that online antivirus scanner, he FOUND 2 viruses that Norton missed! Not all antivirus does 100%. That's why I recommend scanning locally and online with 2 different programs.
