Are All Locksmiths Crooks?

When I had my new sliding door put in the guys had a hard time getting the door in and I asked if was measured wrong , one guy told me it was made so it could not be lifted out so easy . I really do not like sliding doors for that reason, they can be lifted right out and your whole house could get cleaned out!

That, and they're extremely heavy. I remember when I was in school, my former residence had a sliding door, and one day, it detached and hit the ground with a loud BOOM-- sounded like a bomb went off, and that sliding door glass was in a million pieces.

Wow, how long did it take for you to get to a million pieces?

The two times we were broken into they broke windows at the back of the house.

I had clients tell me they keep their doors unlocked all day and they never got robbed . You sure can't do that today and it's a damn shame too!

I am presently living with my brother in a spooky house and we never lock the door when we go out (except on our road trips). The house is full of valuable tools and stuff and we have never been robbed. He lived there for over 20 years and no one ever "broke into" the house. Weird.

Maybe because it's spooky? :dunno:

Way too easy. That's why I'm careful when I post, or upload photos, so I don't reveal my exact location. I never aim the camera at people or buildings; makes it easier to figure out where I'm at.

Right. You wouldn't want someone to steal your dinosaur laptop.

The laptop is least of my concerns. I have other stuff I invested in, like my Asus tablet and my smartphone, as well as my mobile hotspot, all of which I'm very protective of.

well all my bank details were pinched ,i discovered how easy it is i was staggered..all i need to do is look for someone in deaf community with shedloads of money in your area not hard

Well, you usually take most of that stuff with you, right?

I called a locksmith today to have some work done on my locks and the guy said cost $100 -$120 just to come to look at my locks to see what needs to be done. This does not include any labor , if I buy the locks from the locksmith that is $200 more and that for the locks only. it could send up costing over $300 to work on two locks! My house is settling and this has messed up my locked. I called a hardware store to see if they had anyone that does repairs and they the locksmith phone #. I was told a handyman would not know how to fix locks , now I am thinking the locksmith had to be friend of the woman at the hardware store. I can't believe it, $120 just to look at my damn locks , is that a normal price, it feel like robbery to me. There is no locksmiths in my city and I never did use a handyman. I really needs to get my locks fixed and not sure who call now.

How about do yourself? It was not hard to do it and it took me around 5-10 minutes to done. I learned it when I was 11 years old.

It comes with directions on the package too when you buy the locks at the store.

Glad you got it done cheaply. That feels good.

If anyone's gonna change my locks, I would stand there and watch them so that they don't make any copies plus I'd buy my own and give him the supplies to do the labor.

With this tough economy, people are trying hard to take advantage of others which is a shame.

I did buy my own lock and that saved me $$$. I am glad I found the locksmith as I did not see him in the photo book , I found him on line. I really do not use the phone book anymore.

That's good.

I don't use the phone book anymore too. I think they should stop sending phone books and save trees. It should be on request only.

I agree , I get about 3 phone books every year and it drive me nuts , I recycle them but like you said it's a waste of trees and water too. I read it take a lot of water to made paper. I will have to see if there is way to stop getting so many phone books this year.
