Apple refuses to unlock San Bernardino terrorists phone for FBI investigation

Think hard... why would FBI want to know what's in your iphone? FBI doesn't care about you because you are not a terrorist. However if you are, in order to protect us, the FBI has the right to know what your plans are. I believe that soon the lawmakers will make a new law that will require Apple and other companies to cooperate with FBI in terrorist investigations. Just wait and see.

What's more, why should we respect a terrorist's privacy while he or she killed us or plans to kill us? Apple should know better.

It looks like you don't understand about situation with federal government, including FBI.

FBI abused our privacy for many years and it is bad for all Americans so Apple isn't back down.

The privacy of Americans are more important than just only one terrorist.
 
If I am not mistaken.. the phone in question was his WORK phone no?.. why would he put anything related to terrorist activities on a phone furnished by his work place? I don't think he'd have been THAT stupid. If there is a second phone, my mistake- it's been a while since I've read/heard anything about this case.

As it is I think I have read that Apple purposely designed their software where they themselves cannot access data on one of their iPhones- that's one reason why they won't (or can't) unlock the phone for the FBI. I still have to wonder why the FBI just doesn't take it to whatever Cyber division there is under the federal government rather than going to Apple and pester them?

Same reason why people think Apple is smart not to unlock it. A back door or any software that will crack the phone can fall into the wrong hands whether Apple is doing it or some peon in the federal government. FBI is trying to cover their ass so no blame falls on them when whatever is created gets leaked and used to cause widespread damage.

Whoa...FBI is not asking Apple to unlock our iphones, just that one iphone belonging to the terrorist in order to collect valuable info that might help catching other terrorists who are still living in America.

Apple cannot unlock just one phone. In order to unlock that phone they would be putting everyone elses phone in jeopardy of being hacked by anyone. This has been stated multiple times in this thread and on other social media and, I assume, the news.

That will make it clear that FBI needs access to ONE device as the White House said.

The White House says a court ruling asking Apple to help the FBI access data on a phone belonging to the San Bernardino gunman does not mean asking for a "back door" to the device. Spokesman Josh Earnest said the FBI was asking for access to a single device.

like I said.... to really hack... he'd have to commit a corporate espionage to steal a source code. every company has its glory. Apple is full of sh*t. They can unlock one. How? Install that software in it at the lab rather than in all iphones. For example, how do they test a software before releasing it?

What's more, the iphone belongs to the terrorist's employer who gave Apple a permission to unlock it and in the past, Apple unlocked some iphones for FBI (drug-related). While they did, was there problems in all other iphones?

What I am saying is that Apple wants attention from the public so they can make more profits. "We refuse to do it because we respect your privacy." FBI didn't ask the company to access your privacy. The CEO of Apple will be fired because Apple will pay big fines for refusing to follow the court order. Just wait and see.

Yes they COULD create a software for 'just that one lil ole phone' but the ISSUE is that that 'one lil phone' is the same as millions of phones already out there. There is the very real possibility that someone could get their hands on the software and use it to cause chaos or whatever. They can modify the code as needed too.

Perhaps "in the past" the phones were different and had different software (easily unlocked or hacked) on them as compared to the phone used by Farook. The newer (within the last few years...?) phones probably have software/OS installed that they deliberately made to not allow for ANYONE INCLUDING APPLE to access, break or unlock. Doesn't mean it can't be done by black hat hackers though.

I'll be waiting to see that you are proven wrong about the Apple CEO. I'm sure it took more than just him to make that decision.

No, no, no... FBI wants BACKDOOR for all iPhone as part of iOS software and seriously I'm certified IT specialist so I'm similar with iOS so it does pose a security risk.

How many time I tell you? It CHANGED EVERYTHING after NSA incident and not many Americans trust federal government.

You told us that you are not registered voter so you should stay out of there until you understand about federal government.

BTW, I reread the link you recently provided and it mentioned that FBI requested the terrorist's employer to change the password and FBI didn't get all data. What? It still doesn't make sense because most of other articles mentioned that FBI can't access to the iphone. That's why it asked Apple to cooperate.
