AOL user's friends and I had received fake (spam) links and messages of AOL mail but she never send this messages. How to be security for hacker to use her account? She should delete email address or cancel her account then re-apply new account?? She should contact AOL to cancel it or change new screen name. Right?

that is a good question. My friend uses Aol and her email message keeps sending to me i knew it wasnt her but her email address is her. i told her and she said oh no. no idea how to get rid of it.

aol mail suck .... why not sign up Gmail.com

escaping from aol to gmail is not going to help but keep spreading out the viruses to every one who she has our contact list. eh i got 3 from her that i knew it was not her so i had to delete it not to open it. But how will it stops sending everyones from the contact person.

This is known in IT world as "Email Spoofing". The truth is there is nothing you can do about it except ignore or delete it. :(

How to avoid this is to never give out your email account to anything except those you trust. Even your trusted can also get their email hacked and send fake emails. Don't sign up for site using email address you don't want to lose. Make a different account to avoid people stealing your email address and name.

Yes, Someone hacked my old friend's AOL email or AIM.

BLUE: Imposter or hacker

Hacker use the clone email to make people think it's real email and it got thru to anyone inbox.

There are ways that a receiving email server can verify the authenticity of the origional sending email server. But not many use this yet. Too many differences between email servers. We almost need a whole new email protocol with security built in and force everyone to use the new protocol. This should make spamming emails more challenging.

I have seen many junk emails use fake domain names other than common domain names. That make it more difficult to filter out the junk/crap emails (mexican mail-order pharmacy or cheap replicas).

My aol mail is now dead! I killed it. I hope that no more bad emails will be sent.
If any of you were affected please accept my sincere apologies.

Also, if any of you would like my new, improved gmail address please pm me.

I did think that I was being very careful! The spam killers or antivirus and even changing my password did not help. Sad because so many of my friends and groups used that mail address.

I had helped her to change new screen name (username) and password yesterday. I hope to avoid hacker stealing her email address and password.

Can you describe more what it looks like? Does the e-mail actually say it's from her account (when it really isn't). It's possible to make it look like it came from that person when it's really not from that person.

I've had that happen to me in my Yahoo and Hotmail accounts in the past. Some people use special program to send spam. It will put in person A's email account in the FROM and TO boxes... and send, then put in person B's email account in the FROM and TO boxes... and send, then so on and on. The same thing can be done to change the actual date the email was sent. I've gotten emails dated from 1969!!!

someones hacked on my email aim! email I suspect! I already contact to techincal Aim said nothing missing AIm apoglogized available
