Does anyone have Sun Solaris either
at work or home ?

Where I used to work before, I noticed
there were some excellent programs/tools
on Sun Solaris ( i think it was Solaris 2.5)

It looks like no one else ever talk about this...
I was surprised because of their excellent
programs/tools I really missed them so much
I do NOT have them at home, sigh...

Looks like no one else used any SUN systems.. Hmm..

I mean any version ?
it does NOT have to be just verison 2.5 only...

one of my job duties is to support six solaris 8 boxes. solaris 8 is a reliable OS cuz it rarely crashed.

it's because it is UNIX that's why it rarely crashes, :P. I played around with SUN OS one time at a computer recycling center, it's nice but I don't know much about it anyways.

What's it?

I know it's difficult to understand what is it etc...
When I was working for a research and development firm,
I had many priviledges using their SUN and UNIX
systems I did NOT realize until much later that
they are truly the champions one of the best systems,
but they seem very humble (almost never
advertised heavily such as MicroSoft, for example)...

I just want to show you some examples to
give some better ideas/concepts about the
reason why I fell in love with SUN/UNIX...

One of my Favorite Tools that I used on
the SUN/UNIX is called "Calendar Manager"

Lets try to focus on the Calendar Manager here:

Look below when I entered the command "CM &"
on the UNIX system then the world's
best simple calendar showed up etc...

http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/802-1986/6i5vuhv6k?a=view

Thats why I haven't purchase any Calendar from
any stores anymore. I like to use SUN/UNIX Calendar
and then use the printout right there...

That's quite true. Yeah, it's so amazing that
almost no one else knew that SUN/UNIX/Solaris
rarely crashed !!!

I really missed using the SUN/UNIX/Solaris at work.
Unfortunately, I do not have it here at home...

I enjoy sleep overnites without interruptions. in the past, I used to support over 50 Microsoft NT systems and I get interrupted during my sleep to come onsite to troubleshoot whatever is causing issues.

The most current Solaris is 10. It is free and supported on X86. download and burn CDs or DVDs from this link:

X86 represents 386, 486, 586, 686, 786, 886 and on systems that use intel and AMD processors. it's standard PC everyone uses unlike special systems like MAC, powerPC, RISC, SPARC and more.

ur out of luck w/o a burner. SUN sells copies in CDs but they're expensive. you can find copies in ebay.
