Anyone out there like me?

jenni-m. Have you tried SEE (signing exact English?) There are some Dhh folks who for some reason or another don't undy ASL.

Have not tried that, no, but thank you for suggesting. I do ok with finger spelling and the signs I already know (and have 'made up'), and it is easier for me to know what is being said, by feeling their hands if necessary, as I can't follow the movements and hand positions very well. But this might be something I would study one day.

I don't seem to pick up on any of it very easily, guess it will take more work and practice to master some sign language. I grew up undiagnosed, 30% hearing in both ears, I grew up in a 100% hearing world, am darn good at lip reading. Got my first hearing aid at 19, I choose to just wear one. Still don't do great in a hearing world, and am wanting to learn more sign, I only have Level I. Oh shoot, I am sorry I did not mean to hijack your thread!!!

I love what Wokamuka posted, what a great reply. Cheers!

Hijack the thread? Nah.. you are too harmless... Just too cute! and damn good looking... Sure wished we chatting face to face right now....

Welcome to AD Jenni! :) I have bilateral CIs and am totally blind. My retinas fully detached at birth due to retinopathy of prematurity, but were never repaired. Prior to receiving my CIs, I communicated through interpreters using tactile sign (hand over hand). Anyways, hope you enjoy the boards! :)

Hello and welcome. I am also deafblind. I have no useful hearing and I have problems using my remaining sight these days due to severe light sensitivity.
